What about falling creatures?  Park a cow on a single square pen, on top of a drawbridge or hatch. Connect to an intruder pressureplate below.

I doubt gobbo goblinson will expect a cow falling 8 zlevels down a chute onto his pointy green head.

Falling creatures do no damage. Neither do cows  :D

Falling animals just stun anything caught in the drop zone. Things that are not being used as weapons do not have realistic inertia.

Still waiting to see if it's possible to craft legendary slade swords, because damn.

I cant believe I missed this thread first time. Might be something to do with the fact the last post to be necro'd was on November 11th, the day Skyrim came out.

Anyway, I don't think mooded rock artifacts are possible. Weaponsmiths automatically grab metal in their shit, and in all my (2) years I have never seen anyone mood a sword out of the craftdwarf shop. I can't remember specifically, but either Meph's Masterwork or Genesis that modded in a reaction for rock weapons. I'm thinking Genesis. I should do some testing on ☼Slade Warhammers☼.

E: You know what would kick more ass? Slade whips. Christ, that'd open up some sort of rip in the fabric of !!reality!!, rendering anything struck non-existent.

No, but dropping a whole bunch of them into a congested hallway can improve the efficiency of reloading weapons traps, especially against trap immune invaders.

Angry creatures (like ones penned up 10 deep in a single tile pen) attack randomly, and the number of them suddenly tossed into the hallway creates a lot more difficulty on pathing, and potentially a lot of dodging.

The slowed down invasion from the pathing gives the traps more time to reload, and the dodging causes trap immunes to land in traps.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't slade unminable? How do you get the raw slade to satisfy the modded in mood?

Channel up... ok, that's interesting. Gotcha.

I have never had a stone mood weapon other than obsidian though.  Talk about awesome "misc item user" weaponry for adventure mode though.  Slade crafts would pack a real punch when thrown.

I tried that by setting rock crafts on repeat and altering stones with DFHack. It is possible to pick up and throw a slade earring. I never got to test it in combat though...

Although, imagine (if there was a realistic weightlifting system) how hard it would be to throw a slade anything... even for a dwarf.

I'm still trying to comprehend the utility of a slade earring.....

Can you imagine wearing one? Is this a sign of dwarven kink? Your ears would drag the ground, if the lobes didn't simply tear off your head first.

They're most definitely quite useful as bait - imagine the unfortunate Kobold thief who finds that small, shiny object.

It'd be like the Ring of Burden from Oblivion's Mage's Guild mission.

Just drop it on the ground, wait for a kobold to pick it up and slowly drag it out. Flood the chamber.

I can see it now...

Urist McDeathwish has created painhauling, a slade anvil!
All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. The object menaces with spikes of slade and encircled with bands of slade. On the object is an image of painhauling, the slade anvil in slade. The image relates to the creation of painhauling, the slade anvil by Urist McDeathwish. On the object is an image of socks in slade.
