So, I feel like making a noble's rooms entirely out of slade, who should get it. Slade isn't worth much, so it should really be a lesser noble, but it should really match their job description.

So a blackjack, then?

A vorpal blackjack.

Does it go snicker-WHACK?
Sigged for maximum riduculosity

I'm honored. Truly a member of the forums now.

But for the noble you may as well make it the militia commander who'll be training on the clowns later on. That way the value won't be an issue and you'll have a pseudo-clown to take on the clowns. I still think tossing chunks of clown car at the goblins to pass the time would be glorious. Actually, what would happen if you used the change in Z-level catapult trick on the slade into a prisoner pit? Would it fall to the ground harmlessly, or would it crush anything beneath it when it lands while preserving the stone?

Falling items do zero damage at all.

Good lord, how can a dwarf even lift that?

I can totally see a hammerdwarf dragging a slade warhammer behind him, then jumping behind it right before a Clown gets him. Clowns collide with slade warhammer, bursts into confetti.

Thank you everyone for the help! I've since flooded the fortress I was working on and now have a new one going up.

Think of it: alcohol dulls the mind, right? Also, dwarven physics work on the principle that as long as they don't know something is impossible, it isn't. Therefore, lifting a slade warhammer is no problem because they don't realize that it should be a problem.

Got to love dwarven stupidity/brilliance and physics.

At the very base, it is the same principle by which ork-driven red vehicles are faster.

Compared to other necros, this barely counts, but I'll be back to testing slade in a new fortress.
Just so you all know.

No problem, your slight necro helped me notice a typo in my previous post.

Looking forward to this. I'm still not clear on exactly how to mine slade, but, y'know, I'm still the kind of newb who has to abandon a fort because thirteen goblins simultaneously escaped their cage traps and killed half the citizenry, leading to the inevitable tantrum spiral of doom....

Oh, that's easy, assuming you find a curious underground structure. All you have to do is ramp up from under it. Depending on your miner(s) skill level(s), you get slade boulders just like when you tunnel through other stones.

It DOES have a [MAX_EDGE:1000] on it, and this seems to be the only thing on Obsidian that marks it as a sword stone.  But the raw has a footnote "no swords until you can pick mats" so there may be some hardcoding to prevent such low edge swords.  Still, if you made one, every attack would default to blunt...

A slade shortsword, with only blunt attacks? I think I can hear the Geneva Convention crying in the corner...

Lets just hide the DIY WMD's, Eyeball removal procedures, childcare centres, the cruel and unusual....

Ever thought of a stone trap? Slade should be skull crushing lethal.
