"There are no set requirements to form the pact. There are no set abilities granted to those by the pact. But above all, there is no reward given in forming the pact. You sacrificed to gain, and what you got was something of equal value in your own eyes. Whether your petty plans turn you into a god of men, or a destroyer of worlds is of little consequence. Your pact granted you almost direct access to my powers. If you truly wish to utilize it, then seek and destroy that urchin you view as offspring."
"And always remember, O' pitiful contractor; in sacrifice, nothing is as it seems."

Ba approached the cloaked figure and the halfling. "I have to ask, have we met before?"

The halfling hears Ba and assumes the question is directed at the cloaked figure. Without looking up from a journal he is writing, he calmly responds to Ba.
"My associate has business to take care of in his body. He rambled something, but I've long since stopped paying attention to those little... outbursts of his. You can interrogate him when he returns."
The halfling's voice forces Ba to his knees, and nearly causes him to lose consciousness. The halfling looks up out of confusion from a gasp of surprise Ba lets out.
"Hm? Why are you kneeling like that?"

Dwarmin: "You don't need to introduce yourself to me, little one, I already know who you are from our previous meeting. Although you have forgotten me, so I'll reintroduce myself. I'm Gram, Veranus. Tell me, little one, how did she die?"

Little one?

Veranus nodded anyway.

"The Pheonix Mother obtained a mortal wound protecting her egg from a Tyrant Ogre, slaying it and many foes beside.

She ascended into the Heavens, and the skies shook and wept with her passing. "

"Not the egg's mother, little one. Your predecessor."

"Ah, the Queen?

She died much the same as the Pheonix, or any Mother should, as I suppose you know.

...and fell defending our village, slaying a thousand and ten foes times ten...the rabble would not dare touch her, for the Queens longspear created mounds of dead as she walked through the field, but she was only the one and her enemies were Legion. Every day sapped more of her strength, even when nothing but a single blade slipped her defenses and armor...

Were it not for the Queen, we would have been overrun days before. In those final days, we could all see the exhaustion and many slight wounds weigh upon her, but she did not lose hope, being strong for her people-she bought us time, however pointless it may seem now. But it was the most precious gift the Queen had given to us.

She seemed to us, a glory of a past age-undiminished and untouched by time or sorrow-maybe the way all Elves had been in the worlds bright dawn...she was untouchable, save the one whose blade pierced her side in the end. They were...elemental generals, Hyperions favored few.. There were three of them. She slew two. I have marked the survivor for myself, a head I desire only as much as Hyperion himself."

Veranus's fist tightened up as the passion of vengeance for those she lost.

"Thank you for telling me of her death, little one. Long before you were born, she and I were enemies, yet the best of friends. It saddens me to lose her. But would she truly desire that you seek revenge? She was not such a fickle woman, at least as I recall. As the inheritor of her will and strengths, should you chase after the trivialities she refused to?"

The Dwarf was voicing arguments she had held internally, true enough. But maybe a new perspective could help.

"Revenge? No. She would have been content for me keep our people safe. As I would have, if I had inherited them.

As it is, my people are gone, as far as I know. Our lands were encircled and the forests around us were burned to ash and tinder, or corrupted with foul magic. I do not hope many were able to escape.

Am I not the great miserable joke, then? You call me a Queen, but I have no people to lead.

Even the ragged band I travel in does not accept my authority-though, they are not Elfkind, so I can hardly be critical of that."

"In sacrifice, nothing is as it seems. This is the teaching that governed your predecessor's optimistic views. A god she had sought to destroy for the death of her beloved taught her this after having his true body torn to pieces by her. You may find that the one you seek to end wants nothing more than to die to repent."
"And do not worry about being a queen, little one. When your time to lead comes, it will come. Until then, do not thrust your authority so eagerly onto others. You may find that when you are not attempting to be the glorious leader of warriors you hope to be, people will follow you of their own volition. Your predecessor was no less than a mother to those she cared about, and when she led, she did so with an open heart."

Veranus look was grim Repent? Forgive? The damage was done...there was no going back, for any of them.

"If he seeks to repent, he need but kneel before me unarmed...and fate shall do the rest.

But, I shall remember your words, Elder. For such a long lived species, hardship tends to make Elves like myself impatient...I forgot many things. Hopefully the egg is my first step to remembering them.

If you would keep me company now, your duties permitting, perhaps we could talk more. There is much I would know of my Queen in her youth. You said you were enemies...and friends?

Did you exchange pleaseantries over swordpoint, perhaps? Give each other presents between arrows, rocks and bolts?"

She chuckled brightly at thought-one of those strange new emotions she was feeling, was joy...it countered the grimness, at least.

Ba's ears were ringing from the deafeningly powerful voice of the halfling. "Y-your voice. I don't know how, but I almost passed out a second ago." Ba was trying his best to stay calm, panicking in front of someone powerful and unaware would be unwise. "I think it was your voice that made me kneel." Ba stood back up as the ringing in his ears lowered to a dull roar.

"The Wretches' destruction? That factors in to my scheming already. That is all I need to know."

The blind necromancer continues to focus her non-existent gaze on the shrine. "You have no objections to me moving my dwelling closer to this alter do you? I'm going to require a loctaion away from the prying eyes and ears of the runners to weave my more terrifying and controversial spells."

Weirdsound: "If you truly desire to seek your glory through the unforgivable darkness, then do as you please."

Dwarmin: "Before she had found meaning in the god's teachings, she and I had lived in the physical realm. She lived in a large city as a part of the largest family of nobility outside of the royal family. I lived inside the royal palace, even though I was a commoner with no position."
"When she turned 14 she came and asked me to spar with her. I was already a few thousand years her senior, so I agreed on the handicap that I not attack. Turns out I didn't need to! She was such an awkward kid back then, that her first step causes her to trip face first into the ground! Next thing I know, she's falling all over the place, knocking herself in the head with her practice sword! After that, her embarrassment kept her coming back to me in order to redeem herself, and after a few dozen years, she had stopped caring entirely, and just wanted to fight me because she enjoyed it. Her excuse for that? She didn't like the mustache I was growing!"

TF: "Oh? Truly? Terribly sorry, I didn't think it did that anymore. Well, good day to you."
The halfling returns to writing in his journal, but the reply only proved to push Ba back down to his knees, but the cloaked figure seems to have returned.
"Did this idiot talk to you? I told him to not risk talking to people who haven't been saturated yet, but he never listens..."

Action: Move the house closer to the alter. Begin to set up a plant labyrinth between the shrine and the Hub for protection.

"My ears are ringing, but that's alright. It's not as if his voice could kill me." Ba'gandi turned to the Halfling. "Please don't answer that." He turned his attention back to the cloaked figure."What did you mean by saturated, and why is his voice so crippling?"
