Gather the nearby spirits, and use them to hover immediately above the hut entrance. Have spear ready to thrust down, and then scream. If he comes out, thrust and kill.

Cicatrix sighs and leans back in her carriage. "Can't win them all... Ah well, might as well make the best of the situation."

Action: Try to persuade the mercenaries into giving Cicatrix a place to sleep for the night. Stay in sight of the village and enchant some plants to snare live small animals such as birds, bats, rodents, and large bugs. Sleep in town wherever the mercanaries put Cicatrix up, or in the leaf carriage for lack of a better spot.

Head into the fortress, taking anything of value and watching for traps/monsters. Find a secure room to sleep in for the "night".

((Yep. How did I not notice this earlier? I will say that I wasn't expecting the answer to be that far back though. This has to do with Cyrano's lookalike, and Ba's lookalike. I need to read more thoroughly.))

Ba slowly came to a realization. "Were connected by chains aren't we? He holds my rage, and I hold his calm... It's almost like I've been split in two, and am being held together by a cord. Am I closer this time?"

Veranus dreams only of the warmth of the egg...like holding the sun in her arms, it's the only thing that keeps from slipping away.

Several times, she is tempted. Voices of the lost ones call to her. She wants to go to them so badly...and yet...this isn't the time...not yet...

She bitterly clings to life, whatever it holds for her now.

"I'm Ba'gandi Kashi of the Redbacks." Ba looked into the mirror seeing him staring back at himself. Doubt filled his mind upon answering. "...or at least a part of him. I'm still not exactly sure how this place works." He still had much to learn about this realm.

    Cicatrix special
Cicatrix wanders around the village inside the carriage, eventually finding a house with a door large enough to fit her chimera in. Some of the mercenaries provide her with clean bedding and a meal, then quickly wander back off to whatever it is these fighters do. A chill runs up her spine as she sits down to eat, but quickly fades. After eating the meal, Cicatrix easily falls asleep. For the first time in a while, she finally gets to sleep on a real bed, and Cicatrix had no plans of letting this opportunity go.
An anomaly happens while Cicatrix dreams. She sees Ba'gandi as he is through his own perspective. However, Cicatrix is much less blind to the soul realm than Ba, and sees the massive construct below the surface holding the dark ones. The Undercarriage. The dark ones find Cicatrix all too quickly, and she is pulled in. The dark ones have long lost their original forms, but they all seem to still hold a single, functioning consciousness. They chant a message about a Paleskin and a Mirror, then kill the dreaming Cicatrix.
She wakes from her sleep. Some kind of battle is heard in the background, and Cicatrix runs out to get a more direct sense of the battle. But she sees something, much like she sees her guardian, in the midst of the darkness. Out of all of the children Cicatrix bore to expand her power, this one was the most gifted, the Favored Child.
His hair was black as the night, his skin was paler than snow, and his ears could hear the furthest calls. This child was, without a doubt, the child Cicatrix would raise to claim power, but he committed a sin that could not be reversed. In an act of affection he slaughtered every last sibling he had, something Cicatrix would most certainly be proud of, had the child not cannibalized the other children. The child's brutal innocence led Cicatrix to believe he would only become an irreversible scar, and abandoned him on a foreign mountain with nothing to survive. Yet here he stands.
Thanatos takes direct control over the avatar and stands in front of Cicatrix in an act of protection.
"You may run, or you may speak to it. Just know that this urchin will not respond to such pleasantries."

Cicatrix runs a hand through her ash covered hair and smirks to mask her fear. "Pray tell child, Has that which did undo all the hard work of my womb come at last to undo me?"

The elf stands her ground for the moment, but readies herself to run should the favored child show aggression. There was no dignity in running, but if Thanatos didn't mention combat among her options Cicatrix was smart enough to understand that the odds were not in her favor should it come to blows.

You're allowed to name Little Boy Insanity if you want.

    Cicatrix mini
Cicatrix tries to speak with her child, but is met with a simple curious tilt of the head. He seems to have no recollection of who she is. He's simply here because he wants to be.
"The urchin won't talk back. The pleasantries of language eludes his pathetic mind. The urchin is not attacking out of instinct, but don't let your guard down. This urchin feeds on others of its kind, and it will simply tear through you to reach its next meal once its instincts die."
     Ba mini
"This place doesn't function at all. There is only one Ba'gandi, but two sides of him. There's you, and then there's Him. You both took different paths, but your powers are one in the same. Tell me, what do you see in the mirror that's so different from how you are now?"

Ba sighed. His answer may have changed, but the question was still the same. "We seem to have a lot in common. We are both bound to each others path, and our fur has changed colour. We've both gained powers along our paths, but I suppose I don't know much about his powers..." Ba paused and thought. "As far as I know there isn't much different about us."

"Two paths, one in the same. You aren't seeing anything at all. You haven't changed one bit from when you entered here. But you've learned, and you've remembered the true purpose of your rage. Tell me young gnoll, why do you desire change so fiercely?"

Ba turned from the mirror and looked at the figure. "It's a tradition of the Redbacks to fight bravely, but I feel like a coward when I need to kill everything I run into." Ba thought back to how he reacted to the spiders from what felt like long ago and turned his head down in shame. "If I can't face my fears without a blade in my hand I'm not a Redback. I'm not saying I won't kill, but I want to make my people proud, even if they aren't around anymore."

Cicatrix nods. "All I needed to hear. I will take my leave for now and figure out how to exploit this creature for later."

Cicatrix will use dark magic to blend into the shadows and leave the child. She will then get close enough to the battle to see what the mercenaries are fighting.

    Brier
Brier looks around the outside of the fortress for anything useful, but a quick survey of the area yields little results. A few pots and pans, but not much else. He goes inside the fortress, where he discovers that the opening he used was just a ruse. The real opening into the Urist fortress is an ancient puzzle door.
Brier was tired from his travels through the cavern though, so solving the door would have to wait for morning. Beds and sleeping bags left by potential thieves of the past are lazily scattered around, so Brier takes the nearest one.
His dreams are once again plagued by dark ones, but this time is different. This time they aren't talking to Brier specifically, they're simply inviting him to eavesdrop. Brier constantly being plagued by these beasts in his dreams has given him a deep understanding of their words. From what he can gather, a dark one known as the Paleskin, alongside someone called the Immortal King, are about to wake up from some form of sleep.
    Forrel de Yahmiz
Forrel manages to gather a large group of spirits, whom he uses to reach the top of the hut without being heard or seen. Forrel yells, but nothing seems to happen. Before he has the chance to see if this scumbag is still awake, a sword thrusts up from under the hut's roof. Forrel stands away from where the sword can reach, and at the last stab from the sword thrusts his spear to around where Johnny should be. Forrel takes the opportunity to jump through the door to discover that Johnny's uninjured, but can see him now. Johnny takes a lunge and stabs Forrel in the arm. The blade is dull, so it doesn't do much, but it's still enough to visibly pain Forrel.
In an attempt to get through the fight in one hit, Forrel thrusts the spear at Johnny's head, but misses rather pitifully due to the damage his arm took. Johnny takes another stab at Forrel, but a counter is brought up in time for Forrel to not only stab Johnny through the heart, but a spell apparently went off from the spirit, causing a large, charred hole to take the place of his heart. Forrel sees the sun has set, and has to make a decision. Decapitate him for the extra reward, or simply bring him in as he is now?
    Cicatrix special
Cicatrix, inspired by the words of Thanatos, quickly runs away from her child. Worried about the mercenaries, she makes her way toward the battlefield. There are several corpses, but Cicatrix can't make out whether they're mercenaries or not. While she's distracted trying to decipher who the corpses belong to, Cyrano is immediately sensed stepping onto the battlefield. Anything that might have been attacking them before, was taken out in seconds by Cyrano. From their victory cry, it doesn't sound like anyone died, but that doesn't relieve Cicatrix of her concern for the child.
When she turns to retrieve her chimera, the child is standing there. Curiously staring at the battlefield. After a bit, he turns and gives Cicatrix a rather large smile and hug, seemingly out of instinct. He wanders off in a direction away from the battlefield.

Not morning. Forrel and Cicatrix need to get chronologically caught up.
