Brier stared at the apple for a minute with an unexplainable feeling of apprehension. He turned away and took a walk to set the weave cracker on another door.
When he returned, he shrugged to himself and picked up the apple, studying it for a moment before slicing a small piece off and tasting it.

Place the weave cracker on one of the remaining doors, then taste the apple. If nothing interesting happens, see if there are ingredients lying around to make a small pie from it.

Cicatrix smiles as she notes that not one, but three species of fungus have survived the experiment. "I only needed one working sample... Ah well, I'm sure I can find other uses for those that don't make the cut."

Action: Cicatrix will examine each of the three successful experimental Fungi for interesting/useful properties and quirks, then she will grab some dinner and get some sleep.

Veranus walks up to Asa and Hoz, who she favors with a stiff grin.

"Hail. I trust you are still both in better shape than I?"

"How delightfully macabre of you to ask."
"Quiet down, Hoz. How's the night treating you, Veranus?"

"I have regained some strength, Asa. Gram spoke with me, and he helped my spirit to heal, as much as you have helped me physically...I should not burden these halls much longer.

Also, You know, for a Healing-man Hoz-you are awfully blunt. Did I cause you some sort of offense by not dying? As much as I'm sure you would prefer to remedy that."

Veranus smiles.

"If someone is the cause of him actually having to do work, he usually hates them. I'm one of his least favorite people because of that disposition of his."

Veranus steps forward and claps her hand on Hoz's shoulder with a laugh.

"You need to relax, Healer Hoz. Or find a better calling in life."

Seiyas' tail waggled slightly in happiness. There was only one thing really left to do before tomorrow.

Attempt to find tools for harvesting raw materials (axes, picks, etc), or a place where said tools could be constructed. Then eat/sleep.

(Eh. It might be awhile before the next turn. Might as well RP a bit)

Cicatrix wandered into the kitchens in search of food. Instead she found Brier. Even blind she knew the form of a deep elf. They were the only beings she encountered while in jail. She had heard this one talk about the wonders of technology during the trip through the caverns to reach the hub. Some of her jailers had used that word as well from time to time. Cicatrix was vaguely aware that it was some sort of alternative to magic, but other than that she had no clue what it meant.

Cicatrix stifled a frown that was begging to come out. They were the only two in the room. Some form of conversation was unavoidable. "Good evening... Are you the one cooking what smells so good in here?" Her smile was fake, but so well practiced that only the most perceptive could possibly notice.

    Brier/"Cicatrix"
Distracted by the apple, Brier ignores Cicatrix completely. She didn't particularly care, as she was examining her fungi, and was about as mindful of Brier as he was of her.
He walks into the cooler, picks the apple up, and slices off a piece with a knife in the kitchen. The apple doesn't taste like anything special, but for some reason Brier had a growing desire to devour it. Within seconds, he's eaten the whole thing.
Brier feels an extreme surge of mana, feeling channels he closed to learn how to create technomancy opening up. The surge is powerful enough that his body explodes into a mist of mana, and the explosion was strong enough to shock Cicatrix. It doesn't take long for it to reform, but Brier is changed. His mana channels are open again, allowing him to learn magic once again. He has also been rendered in a much younger state than he blew up in. When he regains consciousness and realizes what happens, he thanks the ancestors that his beard is still in its previous state.
The two stand awkwardly, with little to say, then part ways after several minutes pass and go to sleep.
    Veranus Tigerclaw
Veranus finishes her conversation with Hoz and Asa, leaving with a bad impression of Hoz. Beyond his clear apathy toward duty, his mismatched career focus, and his overall crass speech, he seemed to know a bit too much about everything to be just a grunt. Even Gram seemed a bit too knowledgeable.
Regardless, she returns to the room she was given, and falls asleep, muscles still sore.
    Ba'gandi mini
During his conversation with Cyrano, Ba notices his white chain appear. It's transparent, and seems to lack the realness it possesses in the soul realm, but its accuracy seems the same. The chain leads through the gate.
Ba remembers Cyrano coming out of the gate, and gets permission to be taken through the next morning. Ba returns to Cyrano's Village, now named Erst, and spends the night there. In the middle of the night, a blizzard hits.
    Cicatrix Greywood Greenflower
Cicatrix ignores Brier as he ignores her, and is then forced to raise an eyebrow when an explosion occurs and Brier steps out of a disturbance in mana with what feels like a different version of his body. Left speechless, Cicatrix quickly leaves to begin proper experimentation.
One of the fungi has taken on a coating effect, further corruption may even evolve it into something she could use.
The second shows signs of being parasitic, but offering some kind of natural weapon. There is little assurance of what it does, so Cicatrix considers it a "maybe" on the use list.
The final seems to simply be adapting to guard against corruption. She has little use for it, but there are practical uses that could be applied to it, most likely.
After putting the fungi in jars she secured from the kitchen before Brier's little explosion, Cicatrix goes to sleep.
    Seiyas Stormclaw
Seiyas wanders about, and hears an explosion from some room across the workshop she was visiting. There were no tools, but the explosion was enough to make Seiyas determined to stay away from the freakish building. She leaves a note requesting some harvesting tools be made and delivered to the study, then leaves.
She eats dinner with her golems. They seemed different from the ones the book she found described. They all had personalities, and programming them wasn't nearly as difficult as it was supposedly going to be. Now if only she hadn't gotten that headache, she might have learned something for building better combat golems. Regardless, she somehow manages to get into the undersized bed she'll need replaced, and goes to sleep rather peacefully.

Cicatrix wakes up feeling refreshed and not caring in the least about the explosion. After quickly wandering around to determine that neither Veranus nor Ba had returned to the Hub she launches into her activities for the day. She pulls the fungi out of the jars and gives them a good looking over.

"Still in development..." She whispers upon examining the first. "I will have to find out what this grows up to be."

She picks up the second and cradles it with care. "This is almost exactly what I am looking for, baring some miraculous mutation from the first, this is what will play into my plan..."

Cicatrix almost breaks out in a joyous laughter upon noticing the special trait of the third fungus species. "Natural defence against corruption? I bet I can use this to protect Ba and the others from the influence of the Dark Ones!"

The old sorceress tends to them a bit before turning her attention to her goal for the day: Preparing for a trip to the soul realm.

Action: Cicatrix feed just a bit more slop to fungi 1 and fungi 3 to encourage their development. She will leave #2 as it is for the time being. Cicatrix will then turn her attention to her bugs. If the queens have produced more offspring she will modify the new batch to produce a chemical that induces deep sleep and lucid dreams. If there are no new offspring Cicatrix will mutate her familiar to produce this substance instead.

Brier leaned up and rubbed his eyes.
"Well, that was interesting, to say the least."
He exited the workshop and began looking for anyone not doing anything productive, seeing if they could be tempted into helping him mine in the cave.
Maybe they'll actually do something useful for a change.

Shortly after, he headed back out to the cave and began mining, instructing the ore to be mined in such a way that there would still be some of each metal left.
Brier mined, but often took glances behind him, as neither his trust for the cave or his help was completely solid.

Try to recruit some runners to help with mining, then head to the cave and start mining regardless.

(I believe Brier took one of the only pickaxes early on, if not, then he's going to have to look in the Urist fort.)

The blizzard had forced Ba'gandi back to the village of Erst, but Ba finished staring blankly into the blizzard and turned back to Cyrano. "So what exactly is the gate, and why does my chain point to it in this world?"

"What chain? Ah, who cares. The gate's just a teleporter, the only thing special about it is that it links to the capital city."
