The maid helps Veranus with a glass of water already in the room.
"Harm me? I can't think of anyone who would care to harm me for any reason in this place... Was your head injured from whatever you were fighting, or was his attitude a bit too much of a shock for you before you were fully recovered? Anyway, as long as you aren't talking to Hoz, this place should feel rather hospitable once you get out of those chains. The master of this hall was the one who told me to put you in fresh clothes when we brought you, you seemed rather distressed about that earlier. He also has your egg."

Veranus was quiet for a moment. She had to be smart here.

She sighed.

"I was taken prisoner before, in much the same circumstances as this time. By Hyperions forces. They killed everyone I knew, destroyed everything I had...when I awoke, they stole my equipment, and forced me to wear ill fitting, ugly clothing, to humiliate me, and break my spirit.

My first assumption upon waking was that they had taken me again. I only reacted out of a grief I have not dealt with for a long time. I believed the egg might be my salvation...and the thought of it's loss was unberable.

Which, all in all, is a poor excuse for my actions, I know. Did I hurt you very much, in my state?"

"I do apologize deeply that you had to go through that, and I do hope you can trust in people again. And don't worry about your little outburst, I think you'll find that I'm quite difficult to harm. I'd be dead several hundred times by now if I weren't."

"Well I'm heading in. Don't leave without me." Forrel left the caravan and entered the pit-city. He considered the layout of the city; the city would have been hard to defend from attackers mainly due to it being built in a pit; harder to see your enemy approach. Forrel continued into the city, it wasn't too different from any other city. The buildings were of stone and wood like any other and the main road was cobble.

Now what to do, Forrel thought...Well he did have all this gold...Perhaps some contacts and goods?

Head to the nearest guild.

Seiyas pondered on the old elf for a while after her departure. She was certainly dangerous, for good or ill, and it was easy to believe she was a schemer. Seiyas also believed her about being weak at the moment- a fallen power made sense- but it seemed unlikely that she intended to remain that way.

Most likely, that meant the elf was a dangerous power, on the rise but currently desperate for allies and resources. Providing said things was probably a quick way to rise oneself, provided one wasn't expended in some masterful ploy. She'd have to ask about what brought about her first downfall.

Still, that was only an extreme option; there was no need to ally with or avoid her completely. The old elf could probably prove useful in some fashion or another, and if her interest in her was any indication, the reverse was probably true as well. She'd have to visit her sometime.

Now was not that time, however. Her magic had been expended in the overeager creation of her new prized possession, and she needed a firmer grasp on the tools and materials available to her regardless. Perhaps once she had a home of her own, she could invite the old elf to call on her instead.

Explore layout of castle, particularly available tools, workshops, materials, and free spaces.

Veranus wondered.

"Who are you then? What name would you prefer I address you by?"

Ba turned from the mirror and looked at the figure. "It's a tradition of the Redbacks to fight bravely, but I feel like a coward when I need to kill everything I run into." Ba thought back to how he reacted to the spiders from what felt like long ago and turned his head down in shame. "If I can't face my fears without a blade in my hand I'm not a Redback. I'm not saying I won't kill, but I want to make my people proud, even if they aren't around anymore."

"Neither path is meant to make your people happy. You came here to accept your Burdens, and reacquire the knowledge you lost when you were born. The only shame your people will take from you following your own rule is how you drag their names for the sake of revenge. Let their souls rest, and accept the Burdens of the Path of Carnage."

"I'm not doing this for my people; they're long gone. I'm doing this for myself and for the name they made. It meant something, and it's what I grew up with. I'm not going to forget that! I just want to be able to face my fears with a bit of dignity like my people did. Their souls aren't here and they never will be. I'm ready to accept the Burdens."

"You've come this far, tangent. Whether or not you use the powers you get is up to you."

    Ba special
The cloaked figure slams his palm into Ba's face and pushes him back. Ba recovers in his old body, covered in the chains of both paths. The chains feel light, like feathers, and are aligned in accordance to Ba's body. Rather than restrict, the chains enable. Before he can move, the chains shatter, leaving a pure white ring on his left arm, and a pitch black one on his right. When he concentrates on one of the tattoos, a ring of the chains appears. Both chains point in different directions, but the cloaked man is nowhere to be found.

Ba's body felt heavy as he stood near the mirror where the figure had left him. Concentrating on his right arm's tattoo, a black ring appears. He was unsurprised by this as he was growing more and more accustomed to the soul realm. The solid black chains would probably lead him into the Path of Carnage, but he couldn't ignore the fact that he was chained to that path forever. He slowly began to walk, following the dark ring stretched before him. Walking felt awkward, but within moments he was walking normally at full stride.

    Ba mini
Ba follows the black chain for as long as it continues to lead him, and hours of traveling eventually lead him to a statue of Hyperion meditating. He walks closer to inspect it further to see if it really is Hyperion, and the statue begins to move. Ba prepares to defend an attack, when the statue's lack of an assault catches Ba off guard. This wasn't something he had brought in to learn from, this was an entity of the soul realm, and a passive one at that. The statue speaks in a soothing, but coarse voice that can be heard from all directions.
"Why hello there, trespasser. I can see that you don the Burdens. Tell me, what brings you to me?"

The appearance of the one the runners were hunting unsettled him, but the calming voice reassured him that it wasn't Hyperion. "I was following the chains that bind me to see where they lead. I didn't know I was trespassing." Ba paused for a second. "Who are you?"

"When I had a body within your home realm, I was known as Hyperion. Now, I am trapped here. Not living, nor dead, simply wandering the expanse. I spend my time studying this realm, talking to gods, or sleeping, as I was when you were brought here."
