"You're still not looking at the whole picture. What's in the mirror isn't corrupt, it's the exact same as you are now, it just lacks this you's consciousness. He sees you as the being he didn't need to become, and you see him the same way. He took the power he needed, and you took the power you needed. What are you truly ashamed of?"

"I'm ashamed that I lied to get where I am! That I fought with anger and revenge guiding my hand. This may be me, but it is a side that I don't need or want anymore. I may still be a monster, but I want to change."

Cicatrix walked to the exit, intent on gathering more raw material, before hearing and sensing the rain. "Drat. No going out for me today. Might as well work on those soldiers, lets see if I can make them useful."

Action: Attempt to grant the soldier bugs stingers full of poison that is lethal to any living thing bar a high elf. Attempt to grant the soldiers the ability to spit acid. Train the soldiers to hide in Cicatrix's clothes for self defense and surprise attacks.

"The you that chose the Path of Carnage accepts the you that chose the path of the Just. Denying that courtesy is more damaging a lie than any you used to reach this point. You do not need his power, but you need to accept that he is you. If you don't, then what did you die for?"

Ba smiled at the misunderstanding. "I accept that this is me, but that does not mean that I can't change. That's all I mean. I know that I'm still a monster, with or without his power. What I was ashamed of was what I was driven by; the image just reminded me."

Veranus waited for the storm to vent it's fury. She sat in a meditative stance, trying to send calming thoughts to the Pheonix growing in the egg for a few hours, and received only now a probing, curious response that was also wary-then it fell asleep again, and she let it be. No man or beast had acosted her-who would be out in this storm? So, she thought they were both safe for now.

She had no one to speak with, so she took to speaking to the egg-telling it stories of her life and family. She even sang an old song she knew, in Elven-and was glad to see it still had power here, as a few fragile while flowers rose up and grew from the grass around in her in tune. Most Elves who had forsaken the forests had forgotten the songs, but her people had still known them...she stood up to stretch for a moment.

That was when she spotted the man who had been watching her from the branches a of a large tree overhead. He was almost invisible...and as she went for her spear, he sprung away over the tree branches with near impossible speed and grace-for a Human anyway. After a few moments catching her breath, Veranus realized that must have been en Elf, like her. He surely would have been listening to everything she had said, but there was no telling how long he had been up there.

Who was he? A runner, like her? Or maybe an inhabitant of this land? Why had he run away so quickly-had he meant to harm her? Questions, questions...she supposed the answers might come in time.

The storm had not yet abated-Veranus had a thought she might need to find higher ground if it kept up like this for much longer-so she sat, and was a little more wary, looking for eyes in the trees.

    Brier
Brier wakes up, eager to delve into the cave. He looks around for any spare mining equipment, but there's none to be had. Anything that remained was too damaged to even be moved. He instead has to make one with what little resources remain. With power back, the forge and smelter actually work, leaving Brier with no need to waste his energy on useless spells again. The remaining iron is melted down, and then worked into a proper pick.
He secures it onto sturdy piece of wood, and sets out. Reading the tome, Brier finally remembers why the cover seemed familiar. The same person that taught him the worthless heat spell was the creator of this spell... Having little choice, Brier moves forward. Regardless of how exhausting this spell was bound to be. He reaches the same point in the cave he left off at, and begins the spell. Unlike the heat spell, though, this one appears to actually work correctly.
Brier works out that the more mana poured in, the brighter the light. That there's no continuous drain on his mana. And that the spell follows him around until disenchanted. The only issue Brier discovers is that mana can't be extracted from the ball of light, meaning overshooting the mana he'll need will cause him to be stuck with a miniature sun until he disenchants the spell.
    Veranus Tigerclaw
The storm raged , with little signs of stopping. The forest seems to be accustomed to this type of weather, so there shouldn't be a need to move to higher ground, but the elf she saw earlier had Veranus on guard. Veranus attempts to move out of sight of the trees the elf was spotted, but before she can act, another group of poachers appears, seemingly in search of the group taken out by the phoenix.
They seem to have taken a prisoner. A human with short, dark brown hair, in a suit of glowing white armor. A sword in a golden sheath hangs loosely at his side. The prisoner gives a whistle, and a small group of warriors, led by the elf, comes charging out, the poachers are taken out in what seemed to be less than one second, and the prisoner is freed from his bindings. Small bits of the conversation can be heard, and Veranus makes out that they're after the egg. Unsure why, Veranus doesn't risk going out to question them, and begins to flee into the woods.
Veranus is eventually stopped by a group of mercenaries bearing the same brand as the ones that attacked her village. They don't seem to see her, but getting around them will be difficult. They seem to be toting high quality dwarven weapons.
    Forrel de Yahmiz
Forrel wakes up and asks Tince about a map or route the caravan is traveling.
"Well, we don't follow any set route to get to places, but we have destinations we're given deadlines to get to. If a town is satisfied with our caravan, they can apply for us to go there every so often permanently. If a town doesn't, we're given a new destination after returning to the capital. Oh, I didn't tell you this, but all caravan leaders are given a special compass that always points at the capital. There's no way of telling distance, though. The capital is our current destination, but we'll be making some small business stops in case you wanted to do anything. If you have any business here, hurry and get it finished. This is a nice place, but we can't retire just yet! Tince bursts into his hefty laugh, which gives Forrel all the encouragement he needs to hunt down Johnny.
    Cicatrix Greywood Greenflower
Cicatrix wakes up to the lovely sight of her useless soldiers, and decides that this is the day they'll be given meaning. She puts a venom in that can kill anything excluding high elves. Which isn't much, so she instead calls the venom a paralyzing agent. The thought of acid spit fills the madwoman's mind, but considering they'll be concealed in her clothing, the idea is quickly taken off the table.
Instead, their bodies are made more resilient. They move faster, strike harder, and are harder to kill. They're still rather small, but not much is needed for them to be useful. With only a cloak to conceal the insects in, Cicatrix is left with nowhere to properly conceal the insects.

((This is puzzling. I keep hitting roadblocks with every step of this.))

Ba wasn't sure what to do. "If I need to accept myself, do I need to cross the Path of Carnage?" Ba placed his hand on the mirror. "I don't know where I'm going anymore. The path use to be so clear, but now it seems like the path has disappeared entirely."

Brier nodded to himself and poured enough mana into the spell to make it reasonably bright, but also little enough to that he could attempt to conceal it if the need arises. That done, he headed inside, gathering exceptionally rare ores and the like. He did not take too much however, as his main priority was to get a layout of the cave first.

TF: Well, it would be kind of weird if I told you how to do everything. Read through the RP of your character quest, that should give you some kind of idea of how to progress.

"In the mirror is myself if I walked the path of carnage. He seems sane even though he walked the Path of Carnage. My anger would have been a tool instead of a motive. I could have just as easily refined my anger then just abandoning it as I did." Ba turned to the figure, having thought about what he said. "I believe that is what you were telling me. That path isn't mine, but it could have been and I wouldn't have regretted it if I remained sane."

Cicatrix smiles, the Minion gifted to her by Thanatos would surely be strong enough to help haul those corpse bits from the butcher.

Action: Ready the Chimera golem and brave the storm to head for the village. While in the abandoned village activate corpse detection and see if a graveyard can be located for later use. Collect bits from the butcher.

Veranus wanted to slaughter them all...and maybe before she would have done so-and perhaps died in the attempt-but she had something to protect now, who might be hurt or stolen if she fought. There was far too many to fight alone...

Attempt to sneak past the enemy army and get back to the fortress

    Ba
"You're facing the right direction, but you're still walking with your eyes closed. What you're forgetting is who you used to be, tangent."
    Brier
Brier pours mana into the light orb, but just barely manages to avoid overflow. It's a bit too bright, but it's nothing worth fussing about. As he walks, Brier jots down notes on any particularly worthwhile veins of ore.
The cave seems fairly straightforward, there are no real twists or turns. There are a few sudden drops in elevation, but it looks like the cave itself used to be a construct all its own, most likely a mine. There are a few ancient dwarf constructs to be found, though they seem to be pre-history, making them almost entirely worthless, unless there was a way to revive them. Regardless, Brier presses on.
He eventually stumbles upon a large fortress. The markings seem familiar, something Brier had seen in the history books as a child. After nearly losing the thought, it suddenly hits Brier. This is the lost fortress of the first Urist clan!
    Forrel de Yahmiz special
Forrel asks the villagers about the whereabouts of Johnny, but to no avail. They all say he's moved from where he was when he first arrived. He turns to the guild after a suggestion by a farmhand, and the guild does him one better. They give Forrel all of the information they have on his location, and offer to pay triple the original bounty if Forrel brings Johnny in dead and decapitated. Apparently this Johnny fellow is a repeat offender, and the guild has wanted him taken care of for years.
Forrel gathers his medical supplies, leaves Luren with Tince, and heads off. After a while of wandering through the woods, Forrel eventually spots the hut Johnny moved to. The man in question seems to be there, but asleep. Forrel stops to plan.
    Veranus Tigerclaw
Veranus resolves to get through without any violence, to avoid harm to the egg. She secures her hold over it, and jumps a few branches. There are no problems until she's directly over the slavers. Veranus couldn't afford to jump so hastily anymore, and would need to plan. She gently moves around the tree, but one of the slavers spots her out of the corner of his eye. One pulls out a bow and shoots an arrow. Had Veranus not used her arm to shield it, the egg most certainly would have been skewered by the attack.
With an arm temporarily out of commission, Veranus would have to think fast.
Veranus places the egg in an area the archers wouldn't be able to reach, and jumps down. She's met with another arrow, to her leg this time. Veranus grabs her spear and rushes into the crowd, jumping onto one of the slavers, stabbing right through his skull. She jumps off and takes out the archer that got her arm. An arrow to the right shoulder quickly removes any use she'd have of the spear. Veranus breaks the spear into a more functional dagger. Weapons can be replaced, but it's useless if she dies here.
She stabs into the back of one of the tougher looking slavers, and forces her dagger to cut a large gash. She pulls the dagger out and throws it into the skull of a slaver. A knife finds its way into her sides, and she greets the attackers with a knife to the throat.
Veranus takes another few arrows in the back, and her vision begins to fade. She can feel the egg calling out to her. Veranus falls to the ground. She knows she's dying, but the egg is her last thing in the entire world. She at least wants to see it before she falls.
Veranus gets back up, and makes for the tree. A slaver pulls her down, and she claws his eyes out. A burst of red flames suddenly surrounds Veranus, and she realizes that it's the egg trying to protect her. She feels lighter, and that dreaded feeling leaves her.
With her major wounds healed by the flames, Veranus takes a stand in front of the tree. She had rarely used magic for much of anything, but this time she had little choice. Her spear was broken into a knife, and that knife itself is breaking. She calls on the illusions of the forest to throw the slavers off while she prepares a spell.
The spell combined the rock, water, and fire schools of magic. One of which she had never even successfully used before. She almost destroys her arm trying to cast the water spell into the mix, but after a few hours of trying to conjure it, the spell is complete. The illusion held up well, and she lets it down. Another of those bloody archers gives her an arrow to the chest, but Veranus still gets the spell off, pouring a large dose of lava on the attackers. She cuts the end of the arrow off, but leaves the rest in to keep from bleeding. Veranus passes out.
    Cicatrix Greywood Greenflower
Cicatrix adds a leafy carriage to her golem. She was going to go to the village, and she was intent on doing it without getting any rain on her.
She sets out, and feels a change in the landscape. The drones report a number of mudslides, but nothing that would get in her way. The trip to the village is rather pleasant. Cicatrix enjoyed rain, even if it was potentially lethal. The cool breeze, the lack of any scents, it was quite a fine thing. It doesn't take long to reach the village, but an attempt to find any corpses worth digging up yields nothing. Absolutely every corpse is weaker than the three she brought. The butcher yields better results, but not by much. He doesn't have any whole animals, and refused to offer any of the meat off of this harvest. Apparently the rain made them have to stop hunting early. How bothersome.
