    Veranus mini
Veranus waits for something to happen. Stalking around the clearing, the group of people she saw earlier can be heard. From the bits of conversation picked up, it sounds like they're poachers. Waiting a bit longer, she eventually sees the heathens walk into the clearing without a care in the world. They stop for a while to inspect and defile the ogre corpse, and the heat begins to rise. They don't seem to notice a thing, and before they can do anything to stop it, the beast that slew the ogre descends.
A blue figure flies overhead, too fast for Veranus to keep up with. It swoops down, a ball of fire is launched, and the poachers are set ablaze. The creature swoops back in several more times, and the poachers eventually succumb to the flame volleys. On a last swoop in, the figure puts the flame out with the wind from its speed. It perches in a scorched piece of land. The predator was a majestic bird of prey, far more beautiful than any Veranus had seen before. It picks at the ogre's flesh for a meal, and sits still for a while. This was a phoenix, a beast Veranus never had the chance to encounter in her forest home.
    Ba mini
*Ba holds his hand out as if to be given something, and the mist around his palm begins to form into a sphere. An apple was the first thing that came to mind, and the mist sphere takes on more detail, becoming more like its birth thought. Trying to finish the apple early, Ba begins concentrating as much as he can, but the mist falls apart, and the apple is lost. It seems productivity in this realm is obtained through lack of thought. Ba tries again, abandoning complex thought this time. He holds his hand out and thinks that an apple would be nice to eat, and the mist takes its solid form.
"Good, you figured it out without needing any more hints. You also seemed to have grasped the concept of the realm on your own, fantastic. Now, what are you most afraid of?"

Ba cringed at the thought of this figure bringing his fears to life. "Spiders. Damned things grow to be massive near the village that I lived in, and venomous as all else. Nearly killed my father." Ba paused, but he knew what was going to happen next. "I really hope you don't plan on bringing them here."

"..." Ba didn't want to argue his way out of this. He swore an oath to Cicatrix that he wouldn't run from his fears, and he wasn't about to back out of it so quickly. He pictured the massive speckled forest spiders. "I do get to kill these right?"

Veranus did think she had never experienced such beauty before. Beauty, and danger...it was not prey, but hunter. She wondered if fate had brought them together, to this spot. They had both been hunting the same creature, after all. Maybe it was her Fated Beast, after all. It was said the Pheonix was a creature of renewal and rebirth-things Veranus thought she needed, to continue living as she was. Or, it would turn her into scorched meat-and she would be one with nature, at last. An honorable end.

She emerged from the brush without fear, stowing the spear, and trying to lock her gaze upon the creature-to see if it understood she meant no harm. Probably foolish-and potentially fatal, but Veranus found she did not quite care anymore. Nature would judge her now-for the crime of failing her Tribe and Family...

Try to befriend the Pheonix

"That depends, tangent. Is killing and fleeing from your fears what you honestly want to do?"

    Veranus mini
Veranus confronts the phoenix, which has a long, passive stare to confirm its suspicions of peace. The phoenix relaxes, and reveals an injury it had been covering. It stares at Veranus again, making long eye contact. After what seemed like hours of being seen through by the beauty, it reveals a deep blue egg it had been guarding, and a wound it received protecting it. The phoenix flies off, presumably to die, leaving the egg in the hands of Veranus.

Ba was deeply confused by the enigmatic figure's question. "With these spiders the venom will get you if you don't get them. Has nothing to do with fear right now." He scratched the scruff of his neck as if he felt a bit uncomfortable with the sudden turn of events. "I suppose since I don't really have a body I don't need to kill them. No one else around for them to attack either... Sure. They can live..." Ba sounded unsure at his decision, so he tried to convince himself what he had done in the past was right.

"I'm done running, but unless there is a better alternative I think I'll kill something if it's a threat to everyone... No. That doesn't sound right." Ba'gandi felt as if he needed to justify the killing of the spiders, but quickly found that he couldn't adequately do it. Ba looked straight at the figure with a new determination. "I can do better then this. I can face my fears and protect those around me without killing. I don't need to hide behind a bloody axe." Ba was practically shouting at this point. "I don't need to kill!"

((Vow of peace activate! Just joking. Non-violence on a good day maybe. I have a feeling that this might be one hell of a strange character by the end of this. A non-lethal berserker... Awesome.))

Veranus sighed, cradling the egg as carefully as she had her own children when they were born. There was no doubt in her mind the Pheonix has been a mother, like she had been. They had seen eye to eye-for, where as Veranus had failed her family and lived-the Pheonix had succeeded for the moment, and would soon lose it's life. With no one to protect the egg, her efforts would have been in vain. Veranus vowed to let no harm come to it, while she drew breath.

She looked upwards then, hearing the cry of Pheonix...which as somehow both primal, and passionate. Joyful and sad...

The Pheonix flew higher and faster, into a sky that rapidly becoming dark with the oncoming storm Veranus had seen earlier. At last, the Pheonix became little more than a blurred comet like shape, so hot it burned blue rather than red. As it disappeared into the clouds, all was silent for a breathless moment.

Then, a massive explosion of light and burst of sound, that was bright and loud Veranus had to avert her gaze and cover her ear. When she looked back, there was a hole in the Heavens, where the Elven warrior could just make out the after effects of some great energy being released-arcs of thunder and lightning tore from the hole, and a moment later the sky opened up with a magnificent downpour of rain.

At this moment, Veranus dipped her head and was finally able to weep for all she had lost. Up till now, she had kept her emotions bottled up-afraid that a sign of weakness would be a betrayal of her former strength and bravery. Now, she realized how those feelings had been her true self before-wild, free and outspoken. The Veranus that was, had not died that day after all.

The omen was heeded. While she would treasure her memories, and the bitterness, she would no longer let those emotions rule her. This was her day of rebirth, and it was fine.

...

When she became sensible once more, she realized the raindrops that had hit the egg were evaporating into small puffs of fine white steam. She remembered once travelling to the Dancing Serpent village, where the Jungle Elves of that tribe had tended reptile and bird eggs for war mounts, food and companions-they had built special hutches that kept the eggs incubated until they hatched. She remembered enough that she might be able to construct her own. For now, she had to find cover and return to the fortress.

As she left the glade, Veranus smiled truly for the first time in almost a year.

Find cover until the storm passes, and then head back to the Fortress

    Brier
Brier ran around looking for people to join him tomorrow on his trek into the cave, but to no avail. It seems they were all too busy tending to the injured, and helping the mutants readjust to manipulating their new bodies. A scholar does give Brier a tome for an ancient arcane spell of light. The familiarity of the cover strikes Brier as odd, but it seems harmless enough.
Brier contemplated spending the night in the cave, but passing out in there seems like a rather terrible idea. Instead he opts to wait until tomorrow. The menial chores are finished with restless boredom, and Brier goes to sleep. A powerful storm raging outside barely allows Brier any sleep, though, and he frequently wakes up for short periods of time.
    Veranus Tigerclaw
The growing intensity of the storm causes great concern for Veranus, as the egg could be in danger of freezing to death. She hides inside the forest, under the leaves of a thick tree. The egg felt cold, and she had little experience with fire magic. She was taught how to heat an area up, and cause small flames, but she wasn't sure if she could fully control the heat she produces this time. Regardless, she wasn't going to abandon the poor thing to die, so she places her hand on the egg and begins producing heat.
After several hours the egg begins to maintain its own heat, and Veranus is able to rest easy. The storm is still too powerful to leave, but at least the phoenix in the egg is still alive.
    Forrel de Yahmiz
Forrel takes the spirit and brands it to the spear. He impales it into the ground, and a large bolt of lightning strikes it. The spear is changed into a shape to accommodate its host. The spearheads are shaped like small lightning bolts, the wood is no longer coated with metal, but feels stronger than iron, and the iron used to coat the pole is now incorporated into the spearheads. The spirit comes out of the spear, taking the shape of a human female. It introduces itself as Tarra, then quickly goes back into the spear.
Having his weapon in a shape more fitting to Brier's real skill, Forrel goes back to the village and asks for information about Johnny. He's told that Johnny arrived around the village six months ago heavily wounded, but after being given medical attention, he stole a great deal of valuables from the villagers and ran off into a small shanty. After three months of work, a fair deal of the valuables remained, but after he made a full recovery the village couldn't retrieve the rest on their own, hence the bounty.
The merchant leader calls Forrel back to the caravan so he can sleep and eat dinner.
    Cicatrix Greywood Greenflower
Cicatrix searches around her familiar's mind, or at least what little of it exists, but can't find anything that would need tweaking. This thing is perfectly fine as is. She considers sending the soldiers out to do scouting, but... It's best not to go down that road when there are perfectly good drones that can do it without trying to wipe everything out of existence. She instead has the drones do it, like any "sane" manipulator of nature of her standing would. Cicatrix goes to sleep after eating a dinner provided by Brier, then goes to sleep on a secondary bed she made to avoid having to move Ba'gandi.

Brier got up and rubbed his eyes. Today was either going to be a very good day or a very bad day, he decided. He made his preparations and tried to find a spare dagger or some other sharp before heading back out.

See if there are any spare weapons or pickaxes lying around that could be used to remove the ores, then head back to the cave.

He never understood why spirits took the form of humans...But whatever. And time to get back to the caravan too.

Head back to the caravan and eat. Discuss where the caravan's going and if they have a map of their route. Sleep.

Mice: I'm having spirits take the form of whichever race is most dominant near where they live. In spirit lairs they take forms similar to the master.

    Ba'gandi mini
*Ba was confused. He had never thought about letting those he fought live unless it was simply a friendly duel or spar. Regardless, he pressed through his confusion and called the giant spiders out of the mist. He summoned far too many to kill if it became necessary, and found himself at a loss for what to do. The cloaked figure approaches of his own volition.

There was no doubt in Ba'gandi's mind anymore. He would choose to walk the path of the just. No one needed to die just because he met them under poor circumstances. He would still fight with a strong conviction, but he would be mindful of the lives at stake.

"I'd rather be just than tear my way through everything in sight. I don't need to kill them. I just need to subdue them." Ba's teeth clenched as his hands tightened on the powerful wooden stick, readying himself for the maw of monstrous spiders that he summoned. He knew he picked a harder path, but he always did like a challenge. This was no different.

    Ba special
*Finally sure of himself, Ba walked into the face of the spiders calmly and without hesitation. The spiders seem to be endless, but he doesn't raise his hands against them even once, and the spiders return the favor in kind by not raising their hands against him. As he walked he felt more and more calm, until he couldn't even recall how he managed to focus his anger while he was still mortal. No longer feeling the stick's weight, Ba looks down to make sure he didn't drop it, but it's still there. He notices a large spiral tattoo over his heart that wasn't there when he recreated his body. He's also back to his original size. As he continues to walk, Ba notices that there is now a literal path being formed for him to walk.
Large, black chains grab hold of his body. They seem to have come from the Path of Carnage, which is now running parallel to the reborn gnoll. Ba rips all but the chain on his right arm off with ease. He left his right arm chained as a reminder of who he was. The fur on his right arm turns silver, and the skin beneath his fur pales. The stick has changed shape again, this time into a flowing piece of fabric with the same feel as the spirit realm. The fabric stores itself in the spiral tattoo, and Ba can tell immediately that he won't need another weapon as long as he trains himself to use this one. At the end of the path is a mirror.
The mirror reflects the Ba that traveled the Path of Carnage. His chains are white, and his fur is entirely black. This Ba feels the same as the one he became during the corruption, but sane and collected. The cloaked figure returns to Ba's side. He hadn't seen this figure in years, before he had even started this walk.

"You walked the Path of the Just, abandoned your rage, and turned your stick weapon into a piece of your own soul. Now tell me, who do you see in the mirror?"

Ba nearly turned his head in disgust at the corrupt image in the mirror, but he resisted the urge. "I see a monster, but I know it's me, or at least a part of me. It's like a reminder of who I was, an embodiment of my blind hatred." Ba looked directly into the eyes of the image. "I'd like to think that I wasn't just hiding behind the challenge of a good fight, but it was hate and a lust for power that drove me here." Ba looked back down at the somewhat existent floor. "I hope Cicatrix can forgive my lies."
