Brier busied himself with exploring the rooms unlocked by the weave crackers, unlocking more rooms and working on more technomancy schematics, mainly the gloves we was previously working on.

Cicatrix smirks widely. She knew not who this this being was, nor what the pact entailed, but once again the cosmos had given her an opportunity. No need to be stupid however... "Pitiful I am indeed, but shortsighted I am not. With whom would I be entering into a pact, and what would be the terms?"

The Necromancer stands her ground, not frightened, but nervous. She doubted whatever this being wanted would be pleasant... but since when were Necromancy and Conquests pleasant businesses.

Veranus entered the cave in a low crouch, spear at the ready...cornered beasts were dangerous. She gave scant thought to the danger-wondering if there might be more than one foe here-perhaps even their females, slaves and children-and how deep the cave might be. Only one way to find out...

Action: Veranus explores the cave looking for the Ogre

"I shall give no mortal who holds no pact my name. However the terms of the pact will be given as requested. You must sacrifice your eyes and corrupt arm to serve as the cradle for my power. There is no compromise, there is no alternative. Those who seek the power of the ultimate darkness have no choice if they desire to form the pact. Now, choose, O' pitiful one."

Ba had a thought, but he had to be sure. "This pact... can it stop the dark ones from forcing my hand? And can two people divide the burden of the sacrifice?"

Cicatrix turns to Ba and speaks slowly. "Shush. You need your eyes, and lack a corrupt arm to offer...." She once again devotes her attention to the being before her. "That said, this arm is worth quite a bit to me. I understand the terms are not up for negotiation... Ultimate Darkness... I've known many beings, myself among them, to fraudulently offer such a promise. However I am far more pitiful right now than I am accustomed to being... if there was ever a moment to take a risk, this is it."

Cicatrix grins, an expression that serves to both mask her nerves and emote her excitement, and ponder the deal for a good 30 seconds. "I spent the better part of a decade pushing this arm to the upper limits of mortal power. If you ask for me to surrender it to you I can only assume what you are offering is so much greater. If that is true, then we have a deal."

Ba found himself at a loss for words. It was clear that Cicatrix was willing to sacrifice what little vision she had left. He hoped that it was not all in vain. It also worried him that she would not be immune to the influence of the dark ones, but the decision was hers to make.

As Veranus moved deeper into the cave, she felt something that could only be described as...dread. It wasn't what was in front of her, though...She felt the cold shadows embrace not on her physical form-and not exactly her soul, either

Her people called it "Khef"-that was, the bond between clan and family. It was more than physical, more than spiritual. She had, for instance, known her family was dead the moment it had happened, but had not believed it. Now she felt something she could not deny-that someone she had let into her Khef had done something...Profane. Veranus supposed she knew who.

Perhaps the Necromancer was not as wise as she thought. Didn't she know, how they always lied? They only existed to bring misery into the world...beings like the one she had felt...they said Hyperion had fallen to one of them. And, by all accounts, he had been a wiser and kinder creature than the Necromancer had ever been. Not that any of this really mattered right now.

She had an Ogre to hunt.

"The pact is made, pitiful one. Do not find yourself lost in the fancies of the Eternal."

    Cicatrix, Ba'gandi special
Ba watches anxiously as a large staff forms from the massive being's palm, becoming absorbed by the shrine. The shrine looks like a completely different structure, and in the center is what looks like several pieces of the black metal in different shapes.
Cicatrix is told to eat the marble, embed the raw chunk into her right hand, and absorb the mana from the final piece. She goes through the first step, swallowing the marble with relative ease, and her vision goes blurry. She's lost her sight, and not even the presence of whoever she's contracting can bring it back. Her eyes turn completely black, and her pupils turn purple. Of course, this had to be told to her.
There was no going back, Cicatrix asks Ba'gandi to embed the second piece of metal into her hand. It takes several minutes of convincing and deep thought, but he reluctantly agrees. The metal is slammed into her hand, and she begins to feel a burning in her arm. The corrupted limb begins to twist and change, and eventually settles into a new shape. The raw metal has become a sphere on the top of her hand. The overall shape of her arm doesn't change much(sharper fingernails, the arm is turned completely black, etc), but its composition is changed to be able to store whatever power she would be absorbing.
Placing her new hand on the final piece of metal, the mana begins to pour into her arm, and a purple mist begins to pour out from various parts of her arm. Everything eventually settle, and the final piece of metal falls apart, looking more like stone than metal. Cicatrix begins to feel a pulse from her arm.
The mana collected in her begins to pool into the metal in her hand. A sharp pain jolts through Cicatrix, and she falls to the ground, clawing at the cobblestone. She slams her fist as the pain grows, and the mist pours out of the stone and begins to collect. Black flames consume the mana that was expelled, and the pain subsides. The tall, pale humanoid Cicatrix and Ba initially encountered comes out of the flames. The main difference is that this one has a simple metal mask, and its right arm is black just like its master's.
The being summons its scythe and helps Cicatrix off of the ground. This one's mask is simple, and simply seems to be to denote that it has a master other than its creator. Cicatrix can feel the being like it's a part of her own body, but before she can complete her thought the name Thanatos is whispered into her mind. Before anything else can be accomplished, the barrier and Thanatos vanish. The shrine retains its warped shape. As the barrier falls, Cicatrix feels a dreaded presence she hadn't felt in a long time, but it couldn't be what she thinks it is. The feeling is dismissed as paranoia.
The need for power becomes a growing concern of Ba'gandi. Before it was simply a desire for the eventual showdown with Hyperion, but it has become something he feels urgent. The ritual would have to be done soon, he can't avoid it, not after last night and what the being told him. The soul realm should at least hold a method to keep the dark ones from being able to control him again.

"...That was invigorating." Cicatrix says, offering an expression somewhere between a smirk and a grimace. "Now that I'm nice and powered up, we can worry about your ritual Ba. Soon... Cyrano said that it may take more than one being worth of manna to pull this stunt off. The huntress dabbles, but I'm the only one here who has devoted her life to the magic arts."

Cicatrix turns and begins to walk back towards the Hub. "I'm going to start modifying some insects to produce the stuff. With any luck we should have enough for the job by morning."

Action: Take all the newly hatched grubs/insects and mutate them to produce my brand of corrupted liquid manna. Set one aside and start enlarging it with nature magic while corrupting it with death and darkness, if my arm is no longer functioning as a medium I might as well set about producing a proper familiar.

    Brier
Brier wandered around, noting that some medical rooms were opened. He places the more primitive Weave Cracker on the final door of the western wall, and places the new Cracker on the third door of the eastern wall. Moving around is still a huge pain thanks to that worthless heat spell, but who knows. It might eventually serve a purpose, or at least become strong enough to warrant such a strain on his health and mana.
He returns to his workshop to begin designing technomancy gloves that could bolster his powers. The design is based off of the first leader of the Urist clan's armor. It includes plenty of materials Brier conveniently lacks, but a conversation with Ba'gandi at some point revealed that there's a nearby cave. Luckily for Brier, he managed to finish the design in little time at all.
He travels the path to the cave, and is met with the gaping mouth of a behemoth. Well, that's what the cave looks like, at least. Having lived a dwarf, Brier can naturally sense metals, their quality, and how much of the metal is present. The ores in this cave seem to be growing in quantity, though. Something he had never heard of before. However, the cave is simply too dark after a point to explore without light. He'll need to return with someone who knows flame magic, or at least find a way to activate the light stones with his own mana.
    Veranus Tigerclaw
Veranus chooses to abandon following the trail for a while to explore the small cave. The trail would be there for plenty of time, but something in this cave is calling out. There's nothing in terms of multiple paths, and there's very little light. Some glowing mushrooms offer what little sight she manages to retain. Halfway through, a heavy presence presses down on her, almost to the point of crushing Veranus, but quickly fades away. She continues, regardless.
At the end of the cave is an exit into a small, bright dome-like room. It doesn't seem to be naturally formed. In the middle is a stone, similar to the history stones she's seen in her dreams. The only difference is that this stone is complete blank. Veranus touches the stone, and suddenly wakes up outside the cave, with the entrance no longer there. Confused, she continues the hunt, feeling as though something important was just forgotten.
    Forrel de Yahmiz
Forrel takes a look at the bounty. The criminal is a human male. He looks like your standard pirate, and the bounty details include that his name couldn't be found, so they call him Johnny. He looks weak, to be honest. Then again, Forrel realized he was probably weaker. More training transpires, and Luren tuckers herself out into a nap. Forrel was best suited to fighting with comrades, but he was determined to do this on his own. However, because he's become so weak from Hyperion's attack, Forrel decides to brand his new spear.
The only question was whether or not to make it an evolving weapon, or a living one.
    Cicatrix Greywood Greenflower
Cicatrix returns to her insects, and turns her house golem back into just a house. The insects and eggs are all hurried inside by busy drones, and the queens saunter back into position. After a short wait, the eggs finally hatch, but, lo and behold, all that comes out are soldier grubs. This is exactly why Cicatrix hated insects, they just loved to bother her like this. With a feeling of defeat, she simply has the drones produce the mana. What she wasn't expecting was that the drones were still completely worthless and overdo the mana almost more than they did the silk.
A welcome byproduct, however, is the mana-rich silk they now produce. Perhaps some could be given to Brier for some proper clothing to be made, but that can wait until later. The grubs delight in the feast, and quickly grow to full size from drinking the mana.
One of the currently worthless soldiers is taken to be made into a familiar. It's twisted, grown, and filled to the brim with magic, and eventually some sort of puny, black, insect-dragon-like thing is produced. Cicatrix puzzles over how she could possibly have gotten to this point with the thing. It roosts on her right shoulder, almost like it knew it had to replace the previous iteration of the arm.
    Ba'gandi Kashi
Ba had little to do. He stays behind at the shrine, trying to call back the massive being to ask about what kind of power he'd need to block out the dark ones, but to no avail. He simply meditates in the meantime. He can feel several oppressive presences. One is immediately recognized as Cyrano, then there's the dark one that took control of him which seems to be asleep now. There are two others. One is right next to the dark one, but another seems to be heading in this direction. It feels odd, but he puts it out of mind.
What astounds Ba is that the dark one and its nearby neighbor feel leagues ahead of Cyrano and Hyperion. Not even gods Ba had felt the presence of while maintaining a position as a wandering mercenary felt this oppressive. The more he tries to understand the dark one and its neighbor, the more drowned out everything else becomes. As Ba realizes the presences are about to destroy his mind, he barely manages to pull out of his meditation on time.
He returns to the hub to relax a little, but the presences being so near is... unsettling.

Veranus tried to tap into that strange feeling at the back of her mind...it was like a memory of something she almost did-could almost grasp...she was forced to stop herself, eventually. She would rest for an hour, meditate. Perhaps the truth would come to her.

She sat down cross legged, and began taking deep, steady breaths.

Action:Rest for an hour. Meditate on what happened in the cave.

((OOC: Just putting a fluff action because I can't RP by myself. :P ))

Gather a small group of people from the runners, consisting of some muscle and at least one person with light magic. Explore the cave and collect ore.
