Cicatrix nods and cracks her knuckles. "I'll have it only attack Ogres. As for the troops, any takers on my offer? If you would all rather suffer death at the hands of the Ogre's than disfigurement at mine, I understand... If nobody is willing I will return now to my lodgings, move the insects, and animate the house as a Plant Golem for the fight."

Miceclus: Tince finally manages to stop himself from laughing, but still giggles throughout his response. "Solom's the mage king, you silly kid! The greatest hero in history, and we don't even know everything about the era he's from yet! He died about three thousand years ago after sealing all of the dark ones in the soul realm. Snicker. "He was said to be a halfling with forest elf and dragon blood running through him. Apparently parts of his body were more dragon than elf, like his arms, parts of his legs, teeth, eyes, and some say he even had wings! No one knows what type of dragon made up part of him, but it's known that all of his magic was partially draconic. Apparently he fought his commanding officer near the end of the war, splitting the mana realm in two, creating countless pocket realms to house the greatest beasts across all three realms.

    Everyone else
A small conversation leads Ba to his flanking position. Something seemed off though. There was no drive in his axe to have a brutal fight. He simply wanted to see the opponents before him perish in a timely manner. Ba'gandi begins developing a headache.
Meanwhile Brier is harnessing the powers of the generator as well as he can, working out how to bring the castle's defenses back up. He eventually has to give up and lay his own traps, and begins to feel the world numbing. He's using too much energy, but he completes everything he felt necessary and passes out after getting back inside.
Cicatrix turns her beloved house into a monstrosity after clearing everything out. She sends the plant beast with her now-armed chimera to attack the ogres. What few soldiers accepted her offer were taken care of, and Cicatrix is forced to sleep before the adrenaline forced into her body breaks her completely. The corruption in her arm burns hot from whatever beings are inside the Hub, but she manages to ignore it.
Veranus takes command upon a high point overseeing the ogres, directing what few soldiers were able to stand stopping their rest period. The soldiers that accepted the mutations rushed out with the behemoths their mutator had sent as ordered by Veranus. Everything goes according to plan until the moment of the flank.
Ba'gandi's mind was burning. He could neither see nor hear anything. Save for the ogres. He grabs his axe.
The ambushers waiting for Ba'gandi's flank see the gnoll getting in position, but somethnig seems off. His fur has become black, and his eyes are a deep red. The gnoll was surrounded by a terrifying aura.
Ba'gandi begins his assault. These weren't defenseless creatures, they were ogres seeking a fight. He wouldn't bless them with such trivialities. He would simply kill them. This wasn't like his joke before, Ba'gandi was fully intent on one-sidedly murdering the ogres. He readies his axe, and jumps.
Brier and Cicatrix synchronize in their dreams. A being within the Hub, both living and dead, was happily playing as though it had just received some new toys. A dog plush is being used to knock over a small collection of little metal statues often given to children in the old times. Set up around the room the being is in are some books and pieces of cloth. Chess pieces are scattered about, with a small group facing the dog plush and metal statues.
Ba'gandi felt carefree. He suddenly felt bored of killing the ogres, and decides instead to simply allow one to live to inform its comrades of the example, dismembering the rest.
The onlookers viewed Ba draped in terror, but one of them had seen an event like this once before. This wasn't the work of the gnoll they had placed faith in. The man they knew was sleeping right now. This was a dark one stealing that man's image.
Brier awakens with a fright. Dark ones infecting his dreams was common, but his dreams were never changed by their whisperings. Frightened, he checks the battlefield. He spots the dead ogres in the distance, and runs up to see the corrupted Ba'gandi. He rushes in and begins settling the gnoll down, trying to chase away the dark one corrupting him. After hours of speaking to him, the gnoll falls unconscious, back to who he was.
After a while everyone who can hold consciousness is brought up to speed on what happened. Brier isn't sure why the dark one displayed itself to him from the Hub, but he knows that every one of the Runners in their current states. After a while of talking about what to do with Ba, it's determined that he couldn't have helped it, it's unlikely he'd ever even heard a dark one's whispers before. His axe is kept away from him, and he won't be allowed to fight for a while, though.
Once the meeting finishes, those who still care eat what food is prepared, and everyone passes out in their respective housing areas. Having never slept in the barracks, Cicatrix was rather uncomfortable as she continued to see the dark one's vision from not having woken up.

"It's a floating island that travels the continent. It's supposedly a fracture from when the realm was split that didn't leave. Since it's the only evidence he won the war, it was decided that it would be his grave and the capital of the new world."

"Interesting...Now for something more closer to our trades...Your a traveling merchant, yes? Well I have a offer. Supply me with food and other items for trading in the Hub, and you can keep 60% of the profits. I really don't need much cash right now. Hmmm?"

"It wouldn't really be practical to establish the deal with just me, but if we can reach a larger city, or even the capital, you can pretty easily apply for a trade route with a much better rate. If your application gets rejected, then I'll visit as often as I need to until you're accepted, how's that sound?"

Brier got up and got ready for another day, placing the weave crackers onto more doors and returning to reinforcing the defenses of The Hub. If any imprints of the traps and defenses were salvagable, he would do so. To those that weren't, he would rebuild and create new ones, using machines as well as magic.

Cicatrix bolts awake. "Dark one... here... Oh my..."

The Necromancer goes about her morning routine eventually learning of what happened to Ba. "That explains the dog figurine... Ba, I think we should put off your trip to the soul realm until we get to the bottom of this. But lets tackle one mystery at a time... Want to help me haul a portion of the Ogre remains to the Alter?"

The Necromancer beckons for her new plant Golem to follow...

Action: Feed some Ogre bits to the shrine and then reset the plant golem into house form near the shrine.

"I'll help take the ogres to the altar. There's something I need to say."

When Ba was out of earshot he began to speak. "If I turn on everyone again be sure to kill me. If I'm not the one driving my axe into Hyperion's heart then there is no point in me continuing. I don't want to be a mere puppet if I can't help it." Ba started thinking for ways around his problems. "...Do you think anyone back at the castle would know what exactly happened? With any luck I can undergo the ritual and kill the thing that was controlling me."

Cicatrix drapes her corrupted arm over the Gnoll's shoulder. "You can't kill the Dark Ones dear. They just speak in your head and drive you to greater things. They turned you against the Ogre's, not your allies... but what worries me is that they likely are playing both sides, and manipulating Hyperion's actions as well. There is no way someone that vile can become that powerful without their help."

The necromancer smiles. "Besides there is no way in any realm I could kill you, especially while under their influence."

Veranus watched the carnage ensue with a sick feeling in her stomach. This was no battle-it was a slaughter. They hardly deserved any better, of course...

She was glad he didn't turn on them afterward. Otherwise he would have to of been killed as well.

With a silent command to the defenders of the wall, she ordered them to stat picking the field. The Necromancer would get the bodies, the Runners would get the supplies...Veranus didn't suppose anything an Ogre had would be particulalry appetizing.

She would speak to Ba'gandi later...for now, she had to chase down the last one. She couldn't let him get away-Ogres were stupid, and hearing of the slaughter would only bring more of them seeking to challenge Ba'gandi.

She mentioned...

"Necromancer, I'm going to get that last Ogre. Hopefully, I'll be back by midday...stow the group discussion about Ba'gandi for tonight, till I return."

Action: Have the runners loot the dead ogres of weapons and supplies and bring them into the fort, and bring them to the shrine. Veranus begins hunting the lone Ogre-she would want to abandon the hunt ifnot close to him by midday. Ideally not spending a night in the wild-but she might not be able to give up on the hunt, due to her nature.

    Brier
The tired old man wakes up and firmly plants his feet on the ground. Another day has gone by he's shrugged off the temptations of the dark ones. Brier grabs his Weave Crackers and wanders around. He slaps them onto some doors across from the barracks. Now that he had time, his main priority was getting defenses back online.
The timely process of turning on the generator and putting all the stones in place has already been done by a group of Brier's followers. He mulls over the control panel. There had to be something he could use to tell if what he was doing was effective or not. There were manuals he found lying around, but they only held basic commands he already knew how to use. The mysteries of the generator were only growing in complexity.
To put his mind at ease, he goes to reinforce his own handmade defenses throughout the morning. Not much is accomplished, but they're all at least completed. Until a way to fully figure out the commands for the generator comes to him, they'll all just have to put up with what modest work he can offer.
    Veranus Tigerclaw
Veranus wakes up to the beautiful sound of working being done. The orders she gave the troops last night are finally being executed in full, and most of what remains of the slaughter is being transported to wherever it is Cicatrix asked to have everything moved. However, today was not a day for Veranus to celebrate victory. One ogre escaped by whatever twisted desires Ba'gandi's captors had.
Veranus gathers what she needs and begins the hunt. Most of her morning is spent tracking the ogre around. The trail has durrently brought Veranus to a small cave somewhere miles from the castle near the bottom of the mountain. The trail doesn't go dead here, but she might not be able to find the cave again.
    Forrel de Yahmiz
After a well earned rest from ensuring supplies will at least reach the Hub after he returns in case he can't supply an official trade route with the guilds, Forrel wakes up to the sight of Luren resting by his side. The little dearie seems to have begun budding wings. Her feathers are developing a very small gold tint as well. He pats his new favorite little buddy on her head, and Luren joyfully trots along with Forrel as he retrieves a copy of the 50g bounty from the guild.
They both continue to an area that would be perfect for training. It probably was used for that purpose when this village was large enough to warrant military power, but for now it would be used to help Forrel develop the basics of the spear. He thrashes around with the spear in a rather pathetic display, but he's never used one before, so it didn't particularly matter. It takes most of the morning, but he eventually manages to get down the basics of going from one blade tip to the other, but he can safely say he's no longer inept with a bladed weapon. Luren is pouncing around, developing her own survival skills.
    Cicatrix, Ba'gandi
What an utter mess the blasted dark one left her precious ogres in. Cicatrix felt tempted to spit in disgust at the mess, however, being blind made being disgusted at the sight of something rather strange. And there is an image to be upheld by former tyrants such as herself. An image she would rather not sully with such antics.
She has a small conversation with Ba, who persists that he needs to undergo the ritual regardless of how she felt about it. How stubborn, but she supposes she understands his sentiments. Making use of the plant golem and her chimera, Cicatrix carries every last piece of horned tyrant ogre to the shrine with the help of Ba'gandi. The sacrifice is put in place, and Cicatrix begins to call out for the being to appear.
Once again, her sight returns. The figure seems different this time. It has a bizarre set of ceremonial armor, and its strange scythe seems more complete. The sacrificial bits are whisked away, and the dark presence suddenly grows stronger. A barrier is established around the area to keep anyone from seeing what's occurring inside. A large being in a much bulkier, much more complex, titanic version of the armor the being earlier had is seen in the distance. Broken chains dangle freely at the armor's side, and the beast turns around.
Unlike the beings before, this one had a draconic metal mask that seemed to serve as its face. The shade of its body is also a deep black, rather than the generic white of its previous renditions. This being has no scythe, instead its armor is covered in the mysterious black metals that comprised the scythes of the other beings. The mask begins to move as though it truly were a face. Mortals... Do you desire the pact, O' pitiful ones? Its voice was low, not booming. It seemed incredibly disconnected with the reality they perceived.
Ba'gandi, having no weapon to ready, simply prepares himself to guard Cicatrix if need be.
