Waterskins
« on: October 09, 2011, 06:51:21 am »

All of my military dorfs have a waterskin+backpack but they still go far away searching for booze on a pot, and when I order then to do something they carry the pot  to the place I ordered then carry it back to the stockpiles, THIS IS ANNOYING!

I don't know. Personally, I've never seen my militia dorfs drinking/eating from their backpacks...so I just set them to not carry food or water.

If you got rid of the waterskins they'd probably spend even more time lugging barrels about, since they need to have the barrel in their inventory to drink from it.

You wouldn't see them doing it unless you were watching and in a position to notice the slight pause in movement. They only take one turn to drink, and probably the same amount of time to eat.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

that's seriously not a good idea. If you're tromping some militia through caverns then you don't want the buggers to keep going back to the food pile three hundred steps and twenty-odd z-levels away from where you want to explore. :P

Not a problem if you lock the doors behind the little buggers.
