[38b-mac] bad interaction with battery
« on: March 08, 2008, 12:14:00 am »

DF somehow doesn't play nice with the OSX battery indicator: I got no hint that my battery was about to give out, and then OSX failed to hibernate (i.e. it just shut down, losing almost a year's progress! oh, and nuking a file for work, but that doesn't matter much).

I have no idea if this is really fixable, but figured it should be reported.

DF uses a lot of CPU power, and hence a lot of battery power.  If your battery is kinda old, it could be that under heavy usage, it dropped from "looks fine" to nil before the OS could notice.

I'm on a dell Windows machine, but yeah, DF tears through my (almost) brand new battery like it was made of butter.  2+ hour battery life is cut down to 45 minutes or less.  My old batteries (which I don't use any more due to a "general battery failure" indicator) hold about 45 minutes to an hour of charge.  Were I to use one I might get 15 minutes with DF.

edit to clarify my initial statement.
