You gather up a hand-full of mushrooms and enjoy their tangy flavor. Gathering another hand-full, you remember that they'll only glow for a few minutes, but they should be edible for some time.
Continuing down the passage, you spot a door on the left-hand wall, faint light spilling out from around the frame. Even better, there's a platform in front of it, elevated enough to be dry.
The water swirling around your calves is picking up speed.

Open the door very slightly. Peer inside. Do not enter.

I just noticed I'm the only one posting suggestions. Meh, still good.

((Well, from experience, people only play games when:

1. They're multiplayer.
2. Funny.
3. Have something an individual likes such as evolving, gods, worldmaking, etc.
4. They are utterly confused about the game.

However, this isn't one of those games.

Perhaps you can put a description in your sig saying that it's a serious game. And maybe a better title for the game's name? Maybe, YFYR- <Insert current event here>. Example "YFYR- Into the sewers we go!"

Really haven't found the "secret" to attracting players. But people seem to be tired of the "guy in medieval era needing suggestions".
You pretty much need to spice it up with game mechanics or humour. Really, I like the game as is, but I doubt other people will.))

Oh and one more problem, you happen to post at a very bad time.

((sorry again, had to deal with some writer's block. I've got a good backlog now.))

The door opens haltingly, with a grinding screech of rusted hinges. The room is small, about an ell and a half square, packed with shelves and cluttered with crates. A ramshackle desk is propped against the far wall, a half-open crate sitting on top. Grey light flickers from a slightly cracked orb on the floor, its cable broken off at a length of a quarter ell.

Look for any books, letters, scrolls, or paper. Investigate desk. Investigate crate. Touch orb.

You force the door open, the hinges protesting loudly. There don't appear to be any loose papers or books and the desk is bare except for the crate, and it creaks alarmingly, but the crate on the desk is loosely packed with some loosely shredded fiber. Inside is a portable alchemy kit, including a sample/extraction gun and an enzyme cutter. Your rudimentary knowledge of ether theory tells you that touching the orb would be a bad idea, but the cable should be safe. While searching, you notice a garment bag hanging on the back of the door.

Check the garment bag.

Extract blood from yourself.  Take some enzymes from mushrooms. Make something with them in the alchemy kit.

Pulling open the garment bag reveals a Heavy Long Coat with some unsettling stains on the cuffs and bottom hem.
The sample/extraction gun does it's work, leaving you with a Vial of your blood and a Vial of Glowing Greycap extract
With the raw components you have here, you can make either a mutagen with a weak constant effect, or a short-term elixir with a strong effect.
The Enzyme Cutter is used for bonding and shaping organic material. It's useless as a weapon, but can be used on yourself or tissue samples.

Put on Heavy Long Coat.

Create an elixir. Save it for now.

Grab the orb by the cable and dangle it in front of you. Leave the room with everything and continue down.

The Heavy Long Coat fits you like it was tailored to you, and should provide some warmth and protection.
It's the work of a moment to mix up a Bio-Luminescence/Fungal Mutagen, and a quick jaunt back to the subterranean corridor for more mushrooms reveals that the water level is starting to rise. In no time you also make a Bio-Luminescence Elixir.
Your very basic knowledge of erg theory tells you that attempting to extract essence from a damaged Light Sphere would probably destroy the sample/extraction gun and probably deliver a lethal shock to you.
You fold the portable alchemy kit into one of the pockets of the coat, and pick up the damaged Light Sphere by the cable.
Heading back out into the subterranean corridor, you note that the water level is now up to the platform you're standing on, about arm-pit deep if you were to go back in.
Further down the corridor, the strange green light shines unwaveringly as you approach, the corridor abruptly terminating in a set of thick bars overlooking a yawning abyss. The thunderous sound of falling water fills the air, shaking you to the core. The green light is nearly blinding from behind the bars, and you remember that the unfiltered green light of the Alkahest Star dissolves anything it touches into its most basic elements.
Looking around, you can see an alcove to your left, containing a ladder fastened to the wall, and a sturdy-looking hatch on the floor.

Stop looking at the star and head down the hatch.
