I have two problems. (A bitch is one.)
« on: October 05, 2011, 04:45:20 pm »

So, first problem. One of my millitia dorfs was a fucking moron and went out to fight the remnants of a siege (chilling in my gatehouse) without most of his armour. This is a problem I didn't have before - dorfs would always wear all of their assigned armour and weaponry, all the time, and they wouldn't take off their clothes when they got drafted. Long story short, he's now down a hand and stuck in a cage. I constructed the cage and disassigned him from it, but nobody's letting him out. I think he may starve to death (no great loss - I only draft useless immigrants), but does anyone have any idea as to why they aren't letting him out?

Second problem. Another militia dorf got both of her arms fucked up to the point where she can now no longer do anything productive, and KEEPS FUCKING SPAMMING about "not being able to pick up her equipment". I drafted her into a uniformless squad and told her to go stand in a room which I would seal so she'd starve, but wouldn't you know, it ain't happening. Why not? Her legs are in perfect working condition. I told her to go stand in the room, she's just chilling in the food stockpile and blathering her stupid useless fucking head off about her equipment. I can't exactly cave-in her where she's standing, either. (Well, I could, but it'd be a hassle. I tried to  cave-in on her while she was still in the hospital, but wouldn't you fucking know, she got up right before I pulled the lever.)

Help me, Bay 12. You're my only hope.

Regarding the second problem, open the caverns. Tell her to go and kill the first creature that appears. Seal the breach behind her. Remember to bury/slab her afterwards.

#1 - link a lever to the cage, then pull the lever.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

The problem is that she won't move from the spot she's on. Fuck it, I'm just gonna cave-in her. If anyone gets caught in the blast, too fuckin' bad.

I don't care what that means, but I finally managed to drop a piece of floor on her head.

The second problem sounds like you had her set to carry either some food or some water, so then when she went to the food stockpile to retrieve it she was unable then to pick up her food (equipment) due to her lack of hands.

As for the first problem I have no idea.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Well, he died anyway. Yeah, the food/drink problem may have been it...although I don't have any backpacks or flasks/waterskins made. There was an artifact one, but I don't think they'd actually use it, right?
