I've never used a Dustox before, admittedly.  This was the evolution of Vishnu I was hoping for though, mainly because it learns psychic attacks while Beautifly doesn't.  No clue how long we'll be seeing her for.
Dustox absolutely mauls Brawly. Dual-resists + a special-based double-damage attack? Yes please. Also beautifly can learn psychic by TM.

Fluffy has been shockingly useful.  Granted, I've literally never used a Zigzagoon for anything but an HM bitch so maybe I'm just seeing her differently right now.  I always just sent them to the Box when I got one to make room on my team for something else.  Headbutt is marvelous at this stage of the game, by the way.  Easy flinches, STAB, and no recoil damage.

Headbutt is the single best reason to use a zigzagoon in the early game. By the time its usefulness wears off (perhaps by being replaced with strength or secret power), pickup has started reliably getting good things like super potions, ultra balls and the odd king's rock.

Also:  Sorry if it was rather obvious that this update was mostly filler.  It's kinda hard to make "Dur, Fluffy is headbuttin' Wurmples!" so I added a lot of stuff to it to try and pad it out a bit and make it interesting.  If any of you have any issues with this, just let me know and I'll try to fix it up a bit.  I want this to be enjoyable for everyone here.

Damn you google, why are you always so far away? Sitting at the top of my interwebs window, mocking me with you easy information. You are the prostitute of the internet.

No, that was a fun update!

I am waiting nervously for some deaths to happen, though - now that we (and you, it sounds like) are attached to the characters, losing some of them might be tough. But hey, that's the point of the run!

(And sorry about the lack of Shroomish. Still, Dark-type might be useful some day, right?)

Posting to watch. This looks awesome, might try the challenge myself sometime.

The writing is actually pretty interesting, I didn't even notice it was just filler until you told me.

No update tonight due to me not feeling well, but I have a question for all of you in the meantime.

Rover.  I really really don't like the Poochyena/Mightyena line.  Would any of you really mind if I boxed him later to replace with something else?  I've ran a Mightyena all the way to the Elite Four before and just wasn't a fan of it.  I have an in-story justification for it of course, but really, do I have to raise this mutt?  There are much better dark types.

I think you vastly overestimate the mercy of this difficulty.

Bear in mind, you may not get any better Dark types:P

But, sure. I'd recommend keeping him until you get a full party (hey, it's one more meat shield between you and instant death!), but feel free to neglect him in the meantime and then box him later. It's your call, after all.

I have used a Mightyena exactly once. Box it unless you need it, or use it to stall against Roxane while you heal Octavia or whoever you're going to use against her.

EDIT: This is going to be a fun gym challenge. No type advantages unless you grind Zippo into evolving, and your two best anti-rock attacks are held by mons that will die in seconds to the rock-types they're attacking. I think your best hope would be a Nincada - decent defense, not weak to rock, can harden, and hopefully can scratch or fury swipe things to death once leech life runs out. No matter how it goes, fun.

Believe it or not, I've actually got a plan for this match that all hinges on one thing that I'm not gonna look up on Bulbapedia for.  I'm not gonna splerge out on levels to just double kick everything to death.  If any of you have any idea what my plan is, feel free to guess.  You should know by next update anyway.

Good god, if the plan doesn't work then I'm just gonna be REALLY hoping Vishnu outspeeds and outdamages the rock type's squishy brains.

Spam double team and growl with Octavia? Spam growl, tail whip, and flinch with Fluffy, praying for a King's Rock for extra flinch? Focus Energy critspam with Zippo (pfft)?

Nope.  It's a TM I can get before the first gym, if none of my guys can learn it then I'm just gonna have to use the "OHFUCK" maneuver.

I think Fluffy can learn it.

P.S. If you're playing this on the computer, where'd you get it? I want to try the Nuzlocke challenge on Emerald myself, but my old GBA cartridge deletes any and all saves made on it due to corruption. Then again, a one-sitting to-the-end nuzlocke challenge would be even harder...

Not sure what Galick uses, but I use Visual Boy advanced
And you can acquire the ROM from a Google search
