Unfortunately, every achievement of mine is somewhat mundane, and only contributes to my feelings of inferiority.

Though I am proud that I beat Nethack 3 times. I really should put that on my resume.

Beating Nethack is quite notable.

I guess my biggest nerdy bragging rights, is that I made a rather successful Mush, that's still operating today. Naruto: Rivalry Mush.

I collect video games, though my collection is pretty small. Mostly from lack of space. I own versions of Jill of the Jungle, Space Ace, and Theme Park.

I also collect RPG books. My oldest book is first edition Shadowrun. (Which is complete ass mechanically. I think the first edition was only successful by the very good art direction, and the narratives inside the book as well. It also filled with  lot of neat ideas, riding off the heels from novels such as Neromancers.)

I'm currently working another mush, drawing inspiration from Dresden Files.

I have a 1st edition D&D Monster Manual. It's a bit beat-up, and I colored in many of the artwork pieces with colored pencil, so it's not terribly valuable. But still---that thing's nearly as old as me.

Just remembered that my DNA is on file at a major university after being part of a study on genetics and intelligence. We have a thing in our house about being guinea pigs for SCIENCE! The kids have had MRIs (the younger one 3-4 times), because they're in a study of autism and brain development in siblings (neither is the slight bit autistic...they're in the control group).

So I can hope that someday they'll clone me.  :P

The first gaming console I played as a kid was my Dad's NES. He still has it in the original packaging. I've also played one of the first Duke Nukem games on an old full-tower computer, Turbo button and all.

I used to enjoy playing 3d tic-tac-toe that a friend of mine invented, but it's gotten pretty hard to find people interested in it.

In a high-school computer engineering class, I was the only one who kept a daily project log, and I had the most ambitious final project. Most people didn't finish their project. Mine fell apart when I tried to solder 32 LEDs to colour-coded wires to plug into a computer. It turns out that I needed to know some more programming in order to reasonably pull the project off, but my hand-made controller impressed the teacher.

Hand-making a directional pad and button is a lot harder than it sounds. The trick is to find a way for it to bounce back up after you press down.

I also made a pretty decent trebuchet from scrap in physics class.

I used to play MUDs before I came across DF, and I read for fun.

400 lines of code to go until I break 10,000.

That's not counting any of the external modules I also wrote, which account for another several thousand lines.

My dad still has a couple first edition D&D books.  They're really beat up, because I used to read them for fun as a kid.  I'd just lay in bed with that Monster Manual and daydream for hours... and mostly not in a perverted way.  Yeah, I know what you were probably thinking if you're familiar with the material.  Those early books were definitely not written with kids in mind.

I did so well on a computer science quiz competition that they disqualified me because I must have cheated to do so well.

I got 98/100 and I knew which 2 I got wrong, because I did so intentionally, knowing the true correct answer vs. the textbook answer.

Second place (and the guy who got the scholarship, and chance at nationals in D.C. etc.) got 78/100; out of 150ish competitors.

This is also one of my greatest rages.

My BA English dissertation concerned an analysis of ancient and modern heroes. That meant about half the word count went on Beowulf and the Odyssey and the other half on Watchmen and Star Wars (I was marked down for having a paragraph clearly setting out why Episodes 1-3 aren't canonical*).

I've gone through the gate and won in ADOM without savescuming. Sadly, it was with an elf archer.

I've made my own explosives, flares, thermite and even a blackpowder piperifle. I was never interested in anything explosive as a child. Ever. That wall by the property line was always unstable.

*In retrospect, I was wise to remove the lines of argument in my final edit that tried to prove that this also meant they did not exist.

I met the guy who played aragon outside of a bookstore, and in VOTM I made a warghoul house that ate the werewolves in central park, and shat the remains into the sewers.
