I bought this over the summer on steam, and if people are getting into it, I may try again.

I am SO averse to competitive 1 on 1 games.... then some guy challenged me, and mistakenly I accepted. Best mistake ever! People are super friendly, and it's nice if you accept you're going to lose :) You'll still get lots of tactical choices. Just imagine you're playing against AI :)

Was playing the campaign and barely won mission 2.2. I got SO lucky. Made a video of it it was so close.

I dont see why people think this game is complicated. Its mainly just submitting your orders and testing how they hold up for me.

The mechanics aren't complex at all, but they allow for a great depth of gameplay, which is one of the reasons I love this game so much. Complexity bad, depth good.

Many people like to compare it to chess with guns and procedural maps.

I love this so much. Best thing since sliced chess.

I installed Aurora yesterday. Then I did a system restore to 5 hours earlier because the installer wantonly replaced files in my system32 folder. My gods.

Which is why the install instructions specifically tell you to not replace the system32 files with the older versions.  ;)

The devs say that everyone should play on UK1, as they will be merging all of the servers together into it in the near future.

This is amazingly fun, and I'm surprising myself by not doing absolutely terrible. 2/1/2 record thusfar is much better than I expected... And one of those losses was worth it because I got to piss off some high ranker by nailing his shotgunner with a corner camping rifleman.  :D

My friend and I both bought this at the same time, and since then we've been playing skirmishes against each other nonstop. Honestly, I haven't even scratched the surface of the insurmountable "tips and tricks" you can do to edge the battle in your favor.

For example. Duck. The almighty duck command. If you're in a firefight, going to lose, and you're behind cover...duck. The enemy can no longer fire on you. Heading to risky cover, and likely to get shot by a sniper? Rush over there, and duck. Then pop back up and pop the sniper, since the sniper will have to "reset" its aiming. Shotguns are amazing with this also. Their speed gets them between cover quick.

In the end, I'm getting somewhat confident in my abilities, and would be willing to join any B12 tournament should one show up. Or host one, for that matter.

This can only end well. I hate being told I can't watch a replay because it's not on my server and having  no indication of which ones are on which server.

Just had my first flawless victory, and better yet, against a guy who wasn't an ass about it! I really love the way the devs discouraged ragequitting as well. (Code is 120440 on Texas 1 if anyone is interested)

Regarding the switch to everything being on one server: does anyone know if old replays, etc be carried over?
