I once saw I map in a book where the Axis from WWI looked like machines, while the Allies looked like animals. Bloody awesome. Can't remember the name of the book though.

The book was called Leviathan. Never read it myself, but I used the  map in question as my wallpaper for quite some time.

And to be slightly on-topic, I always saw UK as an  upside=down pick.
