Hello again everyone.

Unfortunately I have been very, very busy lately. Sorry about letting you down, but unfortunately my opponent decided to concede and quit the game, being busy himself and unmotivated by his lacking performance in the game. While Japan prevailed again, I cant help but think that the loss of Yorktown and his own choice of just sit on his hands and do nothing contributed the decision.

I guess this means that I'll be having more time for Dwarf Fortress and other games(do invite me or suggest one!) then... I think I'll post my thoughts here later today.

Congratulations on your victory, though disappointing that it wasn't more hard won. I do agree that Smeulder's odd refusal to do well... anything... contributed to his feeling of being far behind you, especially as you pushed him out of your defensive line and started forting up.

Yeah, thats what I thought... Had the same feeling with the previous guy(who lost Saratoga, Lexington and Yorktown + Enterprise as heavily damaged). But Smeulders at least had/has true lack of free time, where my first opponent had no problem starting new games and is currently playing at least 2 PBEMs simultaneously.

I've been playing mainly Battletech and DF recently with some il2... Battletech's MegaMek multiplayer campaign/server is pissing me off again so I might just have the time to start a new WitP:AE PBEM. But I wont be able to play at the previous rate of more than turn/day this time around! I havent considered this much yet but if someone here feels like he/she'd want and be able to play a single game for up to several years, I might be interested. Who plays which side and the house rules can be negotiated. I'm not asking on the WitPAE forums yet as I know that I'll get an opponent within 30 minutes, but probably not a reliable one...

I just finished the admittedly disappointing 2-page AAR that Smeulders had written... Not many surprises there. If I am to start one more game I will definitely want a proper dueling AAR to read once the game is finished!

I'm really sad this is over. I was thoroughly enjoying seeing this alternate history version of the Pacific Theatre develop, and was looking forward to figuring out how far Japan could go. Just yesterday I brought a 1/48 scale model of an F4F Wildcat to spruce up the office and was getting in a WW2 mood again...

I've also not touched IL2 since I came back to Portugal months ago. I never got used to the new controllers either (CH pedals and fighterstick), and my lack of time and patience looks like it's bound to be here for a while yet. Otherwise I'd try to set up some IL2 campaign, even if just cooperative vs AI (although for you that must be boring as heck!).

I hope you keep making AARs of your games though. They've positively awesome :)

Judging by Erkki's capabilities at beating his opponents in the games he chooses, I reckon we'd have to have an international movement for trying to beat him at each of the games! ;)

I've tried my hand at IL-2 against him and failed miserably (even though I've been playing for years), so I'm not even going to try WitP:AE that I've barely played before!

Hah!  :D Well to be honest in WitPAE, the Allies really need to try to lose... There needs to be a lot of fighting and loss ratios need to be very, very one sided in Japan's favor for the Allies to not have an unbeatable navy and air force Schwerpunkt by mid 1944... after which it becomes a game of logistics, shooting gallery and waves of kamikazes trying to stop the Green Machine.

I'm afraid I dont. At this point I'm probably not interested in getting any new games though as I dont have as much as free time as I used to and I'd prefer to use the little I have well.

I totally understand... but let me just state it's about tactical naval engagements including aircraft carriers and the like ;)

Yeah, I took a glance on it but didnt look... well, too enticing to be honest.  ;D

I'm now looking for a new WitPAE PBEM opponent:

I will naturally run 2 AARs - one over at the WitPAE forums and another one here.
