Good to know. Also, this LP has greatly improved my knowledge of the Japanese WW2 fleet to the point that I no longer need to google the names of the major ships for projects. The internet is wonderful.

Yeah although the turn rate is now pretty low, and there isnt much happening. I'll be playing of course but this AAR might be without readers soon...

The next major operation is still approx. 1 month or so away, but I "hope" there'll be some action over Burma soon.  ;)

The joy of 'Show new replies to your posts' is that something interesting doesn't have to happen every day. :P

I'm super busy... that's why I haven't said much, but rest assured the AAR is still being read :)

Yeah I tend to lurk, but I'll likely keep reading even for the boring bits.

Erkki you have a very large following for this LP. There's just little to say. I think this has been mentioned before. I know I check on this as one of my first stops every day.

I am still following intently (wish my pilot would do something though...). Still a great read.

As the others, there's not a lot to comment on. The last AAR was far better since your opponent was far more aggressive. Until you can either sting Smeulders into fighting back or he gets enough ships in theater to stop turtleing, there's not a lot to say.

April 30th

Burma: Allies fly multiple reconnaissance sorties over at least Cox's Bazar and Akyab. We should have enough Ki-44s, Ki-45s and A6M3s to equip single squadrons in 2 weeks...

East Indies: Tomorrow, Timor will be 100% Japanese and on Java, Djokjarta will fall.

Home Islands: Some new aircraft enter production! Some A6M2 factories convert to the new A6M3(M3 will begin at 1/day, in a month it'll be 3/day, M2 keeps being produced 1/day for now), some Ki-43 factories convert to Ki-44-IIa(Ki-43 carries on 50/month while Ki-44-II also start 1/day target being 4/day), the Ki-45KAIa enters production 1/day and G3M2 factories upgrade to the über-long range G3M3(production remains 22/month). These planes were discussed a couple of pages back, around April 20 I think...

Below is a screenshot of the area we'll probably next see some action. I'm going to hit Chittagong if nothing happens for a couple of days...

Yeah, although my previous opponent was TOO aggressive, it was getting easy to bloody his nose everywhere as he was too predictable, the wrong way.

Also, this PBEM has a lower rate of turns than the previous. We had about turn/day in it despite the occasional week or even 2 week pauses. In this game the rate of turns has been ~4-5/week but without longer pauses.

That's true, you were stomping your last opponent due to his over-aggressiveness, which isn't a good thing. But it was at least exciting!

I am looking forward to operation 'We Want This Big Island While We're At It'

I've really been enjoying this AAR. So much so, I just bought a couple of books about the conflict! I was thinking about setting up an operational boardgame of D-Day over christmas, but this might take up less space...

Any room for another pilot?

Yeah, I personally find the Pacific theatre absolutely fascinating, in particular carrier warfare, naval aviation and all that...

At the risk of off-topicking, what books did you get?
