Gold is for the mistress– silver for the maid–
Copper for the craftsman, cunning at his trade.
‘Good!’ said the Baron, sitting in his hall,
‘But iron– cold iron– is ruler of them all’.

The gaudy colours are even pretty appropriate given the default colours in DF.

Pretty much everyone who played DF before the so called "2010" version hates microcline, because it would pause your game upon discovering a new mineral deposit, and mrcl was the most abundant useless rock in the game. (some tie it with orto)

Microcline! is also an obnoxious bright cyan. You get big swaths of hideous, useless cyan rock everywhere. You use it to build shit, you end up with hideous cyan walls/floors/workshops/etc.

And it. Was. EVERYWHERE.

Am I the only DF player who actually makes a point of quarrying it on a large scale for fittings and fixtures? I don't find the cyan colour at all painful to look at, and in real life it's actually pretty attractive.

I have a pretty bad case of photophobia, and the bright cyan of microline makes my eyes hurt. So I mine it out and pave it over with some nice gray stone. And it looks hideous!

Proof that Mircocline is an unspeakably evil and twisted material... when in the hands of the wrong dwarf.

It's not enough it goes recursive, it has to go recursive TWICE? Each recursion will add two additional recursions, and that means that the recursive engravings of the artifact could actually become bigger than the artifact itself once you go far enough.

Only in Dwarf Fortress.

Centration. Similar to Spacestation 13, but in 3D and first-person. Sounds damn awesome.

Eh.. Microcline isn't that bad, I have grown to like it or at least accept it.
However when I am digging out a grand dinning hall out of Marble or Obsidian,
it does get annoying when I strike something of another color.

I've never really understood the hatred for cyan. After all, it's not just the color of microcline, it's also the color of the [REDACTED] metal.
