I started a Fort in a Terrifying Jungle/Savanna
« on: September 29, 2011, 01:54:11 pm »

Why did i do it... why...

Zombie/Skeleton Elephants, Tigers, and Honey Badgers roam the land. I fear opening the drawbridge as my military is untrained.
Although i did implode some merchants it seems... the yaks lived but hte items all dropped infront of the drawbridge how odd...

A yak without an owner will drop all of its useless crap.

I suggest danger rooms, and check the undead.  Zombie is easy-sauce.  Skeletal is fortress-killing.  My unarmed recruits can punch zombie elephants, while poorly trained recruits with copper weapons get slaughtered in halves of seconds by skeletal camels.

You know the drill.

The Necro910 Method must be engaged.

Going without a danger room. My last fort i only trained one dwarf for 5 seconds in it. Its much more fun to have them slowly train.

Worst part is that in my experience skellingtons don't leave corpses and don't show up as kills so fighting them is hardly satisfying.

While we're on the topic, so far I've only ever used Magma for forges, kilns and furnaces.

Although there was that one time. First ever fort with a volcano, hideously stupid mistake. Should be easy to imagine what the problem was.
