How on earth do you afford all these giveaways?

I allot myself a gaming budget every month based on how much money I made(my income is sporadic and unpredictable). My budget is either $50, $100, or if I did very well I'll give myself $150 to work with. I didn't get paid by my clients yet this month, so I am working with $50. While there are games I could enjoy out there, I would rather make a few people happy here. Every once in a while I also get a company who recognizes the good publicity of generosity and they contribute as well. You see, if 60 people enter but don't win, some of them have become so excited to play that they will buy it on impulse when they would have possibly just been on the fence before. It's not a very proven marketing technique, but it is worth watching as a guerilla marketing technique for the future. It would work better on higher population sites, but then the prizes would have to be greater to offset the aversion to lower odds. It's all very much a study for some brilliant marketing students somewhere and not for me. I just like helping friends here and smaller game studios. Hope that helps clarify.

Yeah. In 15 or so years being a forum monkey, I think Bay12 has the greatest spirit of giving and community I've found. I suppose it has something to do with our support of DF is driven by generosity to begin with.

Not sure. It usually takes me an hour to compile the list and run it through Random.Org, and another hour to find the winner's SteamID or email and send out the keys.
