I've not heard of any actual compatibility issues with Windows 7. I've gotten everything I've tried* to run on it. It even has compatibility modes.

I think, all considered, Intel would be the processor brand to go for. Their processors (recently at least) have been pretty thoroughly better than AMD's - at least, as far as I've seen. Your computer exploding because of AMD is very unlikely, but an Intel CPU would still probably be a better purchase. Of course, if you don't really need that much processing power, you may want to go with AMD, as their prices tend to be more moderate. I'd recommend narrowing your choices down to a couple from each brand, and then choosing from there.

*I have had issues with Morrowind, but it runs. Some sort of loading issue; not sure if it's related to Windows 7.

You don't really need to worry about heat levels as long as you're properly ventilating. Of course you're going to damage your system of you overclock with a stock heatsink and poorly managed/designed case. AMDs may be a bit more prone to heat damage than an intel, but again, this is only relevant if you DON'T properly manage your case. Not going to comment on which one is better, because it depends on your needs and your budget.

Also, you can get a cheap windows 7 upgrade from universities, though you need to be enrolled or know someone else who is.

I had some problems with Windows 7 mostly because I had no idea to use it. Also some compability problems.

I think my motherboard burned because of a power issue. Because my power supply was damaged too.

Thanks guys. I made my decision. We can let this topic die now :D

A geForce G210 is crap, btw. The 2nd digit is the most important, and higher is better. Guess what "1" means.

(It means it won't play Skyrim or Dead Island).

Dwarven blood types are not A, B, AB, O but Ale, Wine, Beer, Rum, Whisky and so forth.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

A GeForce G210 is definitely crap. You're gonna want at LEAST a 400 series, 500 series if you can afford it. For gaming, you want your GPU's name to look like this when it comes to nVidia:

nVidia GeForce GT[L] [###]

Where [L] is either an S or an X, and [###] is over 450.

A GeForce 210 is only slightly more powerful than a GeForce 8600GT and is a good bit less powerful than a 9600. Personally, I'd recommend a GTX 550 Ti at they very least, GTX 580 or 590 if you can afford it.

Built a new pc. Since dollar is skyrocketing, I couldn't get exactly what I had in my mind.

Nvidia GeForce GTS 250
Intel Core i3 CPU (540 @ 3.07 GHz)

Good enough for me :D
