Oh..... Well I got enough for a scalemaille vest, plus extra for any moods I may have.

Yeah, I am focusing on jewelry, not whole pieces of clothing.

I have a freind interested in starting chain and scalemail making, would you mind messaging or posting a small list of links for the basics so she can learn?
she already knows a tone about cloth design and such forth so :P

Just google how to make scalemaille. Same goes for chainmaille. Try CGmaille for detailed pictures of many different weaves.

Karakzon, for chainmail:
I used this to get me started;
this for showing how to do the weaves;
and this video I found very useful. That method might not be the best to start with, but the setup is quite nice.

For scalemail, this video seems good, but I haven't actually made any, so I can't vouch for it. Practice with chainmail would definitely help before making scalemail.

Small update:
I'm really liking this brass wire I got from TRL.

@Karakzon: I just used the chainmail tutorial on Lloyd's (aka lindybeige's) website. It took me a while to figure out the best way to link rings either vertically or horizontally though, so there was a period of trial and error.

In the old thread, I'd listed a few links early in the thread.  Search "other projects" forum for "adequate metal crafter" and my old thread shouldn't be hard to find.

Pink aluminum and white EPDM Rubber, made slightly larger than a bracelet (27 rubber compared to 25 I believe).  It's fairly safe for the cat, as cats are prone to getting their collar stuck somewhere, like on a chain link fence and can strangle themselves trying to break free, many cat collars come with breakaway clasps just in case of this.  The collar I made is rubber, and it slips on over the head, and she could easily slip it back off if she got it hung on something, so I feel it's very safe.  She also scratches at it a little, but she's not used to wearing a collar, and she's getting used to it quickly.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The black on the back of her neck shows it off better, as the black fur contrasts with the pink and white nicely.  When she's inside she tends to be rolling around on her back like a cat, but when she's outside she's always on her feet running around like a kitten.  So, when she's outside all you can see is the back of her neck and the collar shows up rather well~

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Bright aluminum rings with (I think) aluminum clasp.  It was listed as "nickel free" but it acts like thick aluminum.  On one are the "oilslick" beads.  They're black, but when they catch the light they show off greens and blues and purples like oil spilled on cement.  The other one is using "blue aurora" beads (name half-assed on the spot) which are blue glass with a red reflective lining in the hole, resulting in purple once it's mixed with the blue.  The end result is a pastel blue bead with a purple core.  I had trouble shipping that one, it was almost so gorgeous that I wanted to keep it!

Both made on request and shipped out within 18 hours of getting payment.  I'm rather proud of that turnover rate, personally!
