Still kickin!
« on: September 28, 2011, 10:30:11 am »

Hey all, some of you may know me, and of the some of you that do, much less know what recently happened. Needless to say I am still here, but even more !!FUN!! was had.

Let me catch some of you up to speed with the short version. About a month ago I found out my fiancee was writing love notes and the such to her best friend, obviously miffed by this, I confront her. She decides to leave me, and get with her best friend, and taking my now ten month old son with her.

This leaves me in a bit of a situation, namely because I cannot seem to find work, and because the place I was living at, was kicking me out rather soon. After struggling with depression for a bit, trying to work things out, and failing to do that, I decided to sell all of my stuff. That plan seems great, but it didn't work. I also disappeared from DFC due to my internet being shut off.

Selling things went very, very badly. As in, I didn't sell a damn thing except an old laptop I had. By this time, I have no other options, it looked like I was going to be homeless. After another week of "Can anyone help me?" I called up my dad, who I talked to about the recent happenings for a couple of hours. At the end of this, it was decided that I was moving back out to Arizona, to start anew.

Let me sum up some of the stuff in a list.
Fiancee leaves, takes son.
Ex gets with her best friend within three days.
Dad has been in hospital for weeks, nearly dying due to blood infection.
Suspended licencse, and tickets that need payed.
Cell Phone bill that needs payed, but is being ignored.
Losing my home
Can't sell car, have to give it away (silver lining, gave it to a cousin who needed it)
Low on cash, no place to live, have to leave Indiana.
Learn the day I am leaving that I had a right (legal) to take my son to Arizona with me.

Etc etc etc. Needless to say, I am still here. Will probably not be on DFC chat, because my hard drive didn't take being shipped cross country well.

I don't recall you, but I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune.  I hope you can make the best of it.  Or at least, rebuild your life.  I don't suppose there's anything we can actually do for you, is there?  And can you fight for your son from Arizona?  At least for me, my friends and child would be the only things I'd feel particularly bad about leaving.  Maybe you're different.

In any event, wish you the best.

No, it actually kills me that I had to leave my son. The last two days I had him I was constantly on the verge of tears, especially when he looked me dead in the yes and smiled.

I can do a lot of things here in Arizona, but the first thing is a job, can't do a thing in this world without cash.

Well, all I can do is wish you luck.
And maybe do a little prayer as well?

I can't pray for you, but I can wish you good luck. Try to make sure your son spends time with both you and the mother, I'm not sure how that's really possible from halfway across the country though. My parents got divorced in my late teens so I can't imagine how tough it would be to grow up rarely seeing your own parents.

Considering his age, he would grow up used to it. I plan to see him, it just cost a lot of cash that I do not have. I actually have a legal right to have him due to shared custody. Once I get established I plan to have him for summers and the such.

I posted this mostly as a way to vent, and so the DFC crew knew what was up. Talking about things helps.

You seem to have the sympathy and support of the community.  If all you want to do is vent, then I'm, at least, happy to listen to you.  Glad you seem to have some form of plan.  Good luck with it all and I hope it works out well.

Just remember how hard things like this will be on the child.  Lack of stability is generally a bad thing for children.  Try to understand what he's going through and it will help you both.

Comp! Buddy! Its good to hear from you. Us DFC bros had been a touch worried.

It sucks that you had to leave your son there, but you said that his grandparents were providing a health environment for him, and while it may be incredibly difficult for you to bear his absence, considering the situation, for his own personal well being if that is where he still is, its probably better for now.

Job is obviously the focus, hopefully you have more range than you did back in Indiana, considering that seemed to be your limiting factor.

(This is Reusable-Box, by the way.)

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

Good luck and I send prayers your way. Having to leave your child though, that is purely horrid, I wish you the best of luck!

Yeah, his granparents can provide for him, but it isn't the most "stable" environment by any means, considering his mothers 'company'.

Im seriously tempted to join the Air Force, now may be a good time.

That isn't a bad idea at all, really. If you're not otherwise opposed to service. Talk to a recruiter.

Wow, that sounds rather horrible. I think yeah, it would be a great time to join the military. They provide for you, train you, pay you quite well, etc, in exchange for a little freedom and a little pain. But it doesn't sound like the freedom and pain is much of an issue if you're penniless.

Only issue with the military is my bum knee, and my weight. The weight is easy to lose, I have just been lazy lately. The knee on the other hand, needs exercise. I just have a little voice in the back of my head nagging me saying I will fail.

Gotta try though eh? And if I go through with it, and make it through more or less fine, id probably feel pretty good about myself.
