"Ah, Mister Blackadder I presume? I was wondering how long before you appear. Not much of a fighter, are you? Not that it stops me from asking you for your allegiance. And I have much better terms than those brought to you by Sir Wiliam. Ligoria has changed, and you would be missing out on a lot of things if you refused..."

William sends the Republican Regiment back to Ligoria on Rectyl's boat. With a message that William wishes to speak to Rectyl, he also sends John with strict orders, notes and documents and a request to meet with Kathos.

After taking off any weapon he had, John is allowed in the palace to meet the Lord Chancellor. Kathos is waiting for him in the council room.

"Welcome back to Ligoria. How did the coup go?"

Head off to the arena and find out who exactly runs it.

The arena is empty. There is only one guard at the gates - probably to prevent vandalism - and he looks surprised by your question.

"The government runs the arena, lizard. If you want to talk business about it, take it up to the Lord Chancellor."

"Not much of fighter sah? I am sorely beset, and that is the reason for my reliance on elusiveness. De Plume demanded my allegiance, and when I told her where to shove it, she attacked. Then Sir Hopper came hunting me, and I am not sure why. But I am alive, and I am more than willing to aid Ligoria.

You have my allegiance. Oh. And these supplies I located strangely hidden in the forest. However I hold no lands currently. I sent the peasantry away to protect them, those that did not join me to fight."

John is a burly man with long oily black hair and a five o' clock shadow.

"Turns out the Old Lord receive a message from the Hatcur ambassador.  He said that William was a servant of Hatcur there to control the city in their name, which the lord stated to a crowd and then made William speak next. William reacted...lets say accordingly, by basically saying screw the Hatcur and William doesn't work with them anymore. He sent me as a Representative and a Herald for any questions you may have about Polca or William."
"My name is Johnathan, most people I know just call me John, and it will be a pleasure working for you, if you agree with my appointment...?"

"Of course I agree with your appointment, John. William needs to stay in contact with Ligoria, and you appear to be competent enough."

Kathos frowned, wondering about something.

"The ambassador who sent the message to the Lord... Was it Retcyl?

"Well, William only said something about how slimy a diplomat can be if he has scales. Then dropped the topic. But he did say it was either the Lord or the Diplomat that caused the problem and William will be getting down to the truth of it soon enough. So I don't know."

Nikephoros decided that the best way to end this bloody expedidtion was to strike at the source of the problem directly. "Baroness" De Plume. She would not back down or bow to Ligoria, and so she will suffer for it. but she would have to be lured out, and no doub that Sir Hopper would be looking for Blackadder, although short of one regiment.

He spoke to August and Blackadder:
"Gentlemen, we need to lure out De Plume. She needs to be brought to heel and we cannot afford to wait. No doubt Sir Hopper will be looking for Blackadder, but will be afraid to approach as long as you are with us. I say we set up a trap for both of them.
No doubt that she will come around to try collect somemoree tribue, but with us camped here she will be cautious. That is unless I were to fake a retreat and  appear to leave you both camped out in her territory. Does she usually come here herself or does she send her lackeys to convey the message?"

The Border Campaign

After conversing for a few moments with Blackadder, Timothy speaks.
"A reasonable plan, however her lands have been abandoned for nearly 3 seasons. She might still pass through here but there would be no attempt to acquire tribute. Since myself and Blackadder have already denied her, she will come in force against us. But it is more likely that Sir Hopper will strike. De Plume -may- risk her forces, but it is..less likely, as long as she has catspaws to hide behind.

Currently, we three together are the strongest force in the local area, barring those nobles who decided to join Shola, were denied, and created a bond of mutual protection. My counsel is the same. Seize her land and protect it. Force her to come to you, on your terms. It will take time, but it is possible those she has bullied will stop supplying her. Thus she will be weakened."

Blackadder nods along to all of this, his ridiculous feathered cap slipping forward each time he does.

"Perhaps I am simply too suspicious... But I'll ask that snake a few questions if I see him again."

Kathos did not bother to hide his dislike of Retcyl anymore. The lizard was an opportunist of the worst kind, and he did not trust that type of people.

"Does the people of Polca know about our partnership?"

"William thought it prudent that he should not mention the partnership between Polca and Ligoria until the people of Polca believe he is a good ruler and strong Lord. He says you'll still receive the fifteen percent agreed upon by this Spring, when he collects taxes."

"Fair enough. We will seize her territory and make it known far and wide that anyone that comes to us will be protected from her. That should enrage and insult her sufficiently to come forth. Nonetheless, Sir Timothy, aren't your afraid of having your land devastated by her? She will quite likely do than, in answer to our move."

"That should work. Do keep an addendum in your messages that they may reclaim their lands, when De Plume is no longer a threat. That should get you a bit more consideration. "
Then he shrugs. "As far as my lands.. Either your arrival scared her off and I have a little breathing room, Or she's already in my home carting off my family's heirlooms for sale. I made my choice and I'll stick by it. In the end..She'll be dead, and I wont be."

"Alright them. I suppose that for now, William will make sure that his power in Polca is secure... Tell him that he has all the time he needs. Ligoria will make moves during the seasons to come, but I don't think we'll need to involve Will."

Kathos smiled.

"Just make sure you do not make any powerful enemies. I don't want to go to war against another nation because William wishes to build an empire."

"Let us do that then. And trust me, the spirit of justice will prevail."

Seize De Plume lands. Send messages to all borderland lords, informing them that Baroness is broken and without power to bully them, with Republic offering safety to all that join and bringing her to justice.
