[Juan Charge 4 vs Becca shoot 6]

Juan charges-his knife diving for those hateful green eyes. He wants to stab them out-hurt her, stop her from shooting. He wants to win, because he's always won.

But, really? This is reality. And he know's he's been outmaneuvered.

Juan is hurt. Becca is not. She's trained her entire life for this shot-honing her reflexes, for just this moment. If she misses, she-and her love most likely-will die. Juan is not surprised when he gets only a single step before he feels another arrow hit him, this time in the left lung. He staggers forward-summoning all his reserves...just...one...more...step...

The next one strikes him in the head, a star burst of pain and then...falling.

....

Juan hears Becca Spring approaching cautiously-from far away, he's falling now-all the way down. He can see another arrow nocked, knife in hand. She kicks his body, but he doesn't feel anything now. She says something too-he can't lip read, but he knows what she's saying. "I told you to leave". She did, didn't she? Too late now.

His last sight is of Becca carrying an unconscious and newly freed Erin into the bedroom-she spares a last look of disgust down at him, and it's that last look that damns him-that tells him where he is going, and that he's going to deserve every minute of it.

Juan would disagree, though. It wasn't personal...right?

He hears the slamming of the bedroom door-shutting him out, leaving him to die. As if on signal, his lights go out.

He last thought is to wish the coin would have landed the other way.

Lorelle d'Avistral was shown into the chief cashier's office without ceremony, so she created a little of her own with her walk, her looks and her smile.  She had picked out a distinctive but conservative garb for today's meeting - scarlet and black damask bodice with medium neckline, simple patterned scarlet skirt, black flathat and high quality black leather boots and gloves to match.  Very lightly rouged cheeks and a summer flower scented perfume to hint at the lasting renewal of the dying season.  Lorelle leant forward slightly as she gave a slight curtsey to the chief cashier, to help project the scent a little further.

Lorelle placed her writing case on the desk and gave her sweetest smile as she pulled out one of her letters and placed it in front of the cashier.

"Thank you very much for seeing me today, my dear sir.  I need only a minute of your time.  My letter of accreditation from Eshir Romak of Galam, dear sir.  As you can see, I am a foreclosure specialist who can bring you six years' experience in the business, as well as in negotiations and debt and loan assessments.  Now rumour has it that you've lost more than half of your liquid assets - around eight ducats, am I correct?  You'll have to foreclose, of course, but that's where I come in.

"If you hire me, if you let me look through your books, I can tell you precisely which assets to foreclose and which to keep.  I can tell you which businesses are going to keep you going, and I can cut out the deadwood.  Put simply, I can save you money, short and long term.  All I ask is access, a cashier's salary and the liberty to travel to clients to negotiate foreclosure and sales - expenses included, of course.  If I can't get you those eight ducats by the end of the year, at less asset loss than you projected, then you're free to let me go.

"I am more than confident I can solve your problem, dear sir.  I am certain."

Calmly walking towards Awalia, Franz runs a finger by the edge of the cleaver.

"This my dear, is your death. Don't worry, it will be bloody."

Franz messily kills Awalia and then looks how high the window is. If it is higher that 2 floors off the ground he will check the door. If there is nobody behind the door he moves to the exit, keeping a low profile. If there are guards then he will jump out the window.

[1] Awaila's screams as you finish her off messily and now your covered in blood and chunks of gore. Her screams must have alerted the guards because you now hear yelling and tromping boots.

[6] The ground is about two stories down, and there is a conveniently placed, almost suspicious cart filled with nice soft loose hay.
Unfortunately, quite a few non-gang citizens seem to be out and about and looking at the building, more specifically, the window that your standing in front of. No one notices you however, because of how damned grimy the window is.
Really, haven't they ever heard of window cleaner?

William shrugs, his fingers tapping against his leather leggings through his coat pocket.
"To tell you the truth I don't really need nothing from you. Although a regiment of fighters would be appreciated...But that's up to you...As for my plans, lets say, I hope to bring a change about in Polca's government."

[112] They laugh at you asking for men, and leave you to your plans. They'll stay out of your way, but you also have the feeling that they'd sell you to the Lord if it'd buy them some leniancy. They all leave you at the meeting place, alone. A stiff breeze rolls in from the sea, you shiver a little.

Terryn smiled his most amiable smile, extending a hand for a shake. "Naturally, Captain. I would expect nothing less from this city's defenders." The smile then faded away into a grim and serious expression once more, "Now, how many men do you have? How many regiments? Do any of them have non-standard training? I need to know, if this will be successful. As for my part, the Thornbred number around 20. Our equipment varies, but we are altogether skilled enough to match any regular regiment on the field."

[344] The Captain admits that he has a unit of mercenaries he knows and uses once in a while to raid smuggler caravans heading out of town. He usually pays them in the goods they steal. Depending on the work you're planning, they might be persuaded to show up, for the right price.

Simon waved the two guards off as he stood, and said, "Sorry I have much to do, so sadly I must decline you your hospitality. Now, good day, and maybe goodbye." With that Simon strode off back into the city. He began to search every where he could for signs of swordsman, or the like.

Search for other swordsman. If I find any hire them (Recruit a Group of Swordsman with my Ducats)

[535] The local tavern owner seems to know a group of mercs that haven't been doing so well lately. Apparently their last job went...poorly. He says you can find them outside of town, camped out on the trade trails, looking for work.

Simon thanked the man before promptly walking out of the tavern, and going out to search for the mercenaries. He came upon their camp quite easily, and walked up to the ragged looking group before saying, "Hello my name is Simon, and I heard that your last job went quite poorly. That is why I am offering to hire you though keep in mind you will follow my rules, and my code while you work under me, ro I will fire you on the spot. Understood?"

[332] Their captain agrees to the terms, stating they'll work for you for the year for only 1d. You have the feeling he's hoping the heat will have blown over by the time they're done. Their Captain's name is Mathys, he doesn't talk much but when it matters. You have this odd feeling you'll need to relay most of your conversations with Mathys through his Second - "Stones".

Smugglers and Harlots and Crook Lords. Polca has it all.
William watched as they left, he itched to shoot them down as they walked, but didn't make a move, because that would have gotten more people killed then necessary. He slipped his hand into his boot and drew out the Tin that contained his Blackrose Cigarettes. With a flare of a match he lit one, and stared out over the sea.
That's long enough for those roaches to find something to hide under.

William heads back into the city and arranges a meeting with the Guard Capitian.

Look for some Escort Work

[664] There are a few merchants heading in the direction of Mileth, Shola and Moun.

Smugglers and Harlots and Crook Lords. Polca has it all.

Couple days after Terryn's Meeting

[154] "Hello again! My massive headache returns... What do you want now? Is my gang problem solved? Are all your men dead? Have you come to say goodbye?"

He sounds his usual self, with a twinge of arrogance - more than usual.

William frowned.
"Are you still angry over that...Incident? Very few people were killed and and few few others were wounded, which is quite unacceptable..."
He paused.
"All I'm here for is to ask you a simple question...one that is important...Where does your loyalty lie? To the Lord? To Polca? Or to Justice? I would like the truth."

Terryn shook the man's hand, and left.

Later... (provided William acquiesced to the earlier request for a second meeting)

Flanked by Ian and Donald with Oswald at his back, the Hedge Knight Mercenary approached the spot of his clandestine meeting with Sanguine. Hopefully he had not been followed, but he was fairly confident that the Captain of the Guard had enough trust in him not to place a tail. And in any case, hadn't he told that buffoon that he was meeting with Sanguine regularly enough as part of one of his lies? Sometimes Sir Terryn wished it was safe to put these thoughts down somewhere for future reference, but he knew how much folly that could be.
In any case, Bjorn had returned saying that this was the time and place to meet Sanguine. Was he here?

-Terryn heads to a clandestine meeting with William, provided William is down for said meeting.

Tala rose from sleep the next day, kicking the heavy blankets off her and worming out of Pashas grip with a smile.

Well, that had been an interesting night...She breathed out slowly.

Pasha was still drowsing from their lovemaking, and Tala paused to wipe his brow with her hand. She was pleased to see a smile twitch on his face as he slept. She hoped he was having good dreams.

Tala walked across the smooth cavern floor silent as a spy, and immersed herself in the waterfall-she let the cool water pummel her body, and wash away the fatigue...it was shame they would have to be going back soon, she thought, letting the water rinse her long hair of dirt and sweat.

When Tala poked her head out, she was glad to see Emerald was fine as ever. After a little bit of dressing, she went back and stoked the fire-and began cooking breakfast, hoping the smell of cooking hash and oat would wake Pasha.

She was having a good morning. How many other people could say they had the same?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hugo also had a good morning. At least his Hactur secretary-the first one to come back to the embassy once the ban was lifted-had finally returned, and she made excellent coffee and pastries. She truly was an artist.

On his desk, first thing, was a report on what he asked for, but it was hardly private. Everybodies talking about it.

Apparently the 'Hardcase' ran into someone a bit harder than he was.

He reads on. It seems the Dubs were trying to kill two women-Erin Antalagila and Becca Spring. Hugo doesn't know either of them, but he does recall them being casual friends of Tala Alanis.

The man did his home invasion, posing as an investigator, and beat Erin A. over the head with a scabbard before tying her up. Said person-who doesn't seem to have a name-was then shot to death by multiple arrows from Becca Spring as he tried to apprehend her.

Both of them are safe now. Investigators are currently going after the husband...who has a nice alibi anyway. Hugo is sure he'll get off. The man has deep pocket and deep connections. He might even be able to spin it to the Bloody Fists advantage...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nikephoros and Kathos also receive the same reports...and lots of complaints.

Nobles are frankly terrified that the criminals are getting so brazen-demanding more guards, more patrols and more arrests and convictions. They're also demanding immediate action against any and all gangs, and justice against former husband of Erin Antalagila, believe to have hired the killer.

Some of them are also suggesting Becca Spring get a medal from ruling lords for bravery for shooting the home invader.

[355] The Captain looks at you and very straightly says, "My loyalty is to the people I swore to protect. A people you decided to terrorize the first night you were in town. So, you'll excuse me if I have an issue with you. I want things to be calm, quiet and functional here. Is that so much to ask?"
