They were making fun of him...playing with him like the cat with the bird. But they had forgotten one thing...the bird had a beak. Corvinus showed no change in his mimic, he kept up his face of arrogance before he continued

So  where does that leave us Lord Eshir? You betrayed me twice while i showed my loyality to you. Poison is the weapon of a woman or the Storm Coaster. In the Weylands there is a simple small story i'd like to tell you: As our Great Jarl united the Weylands, he came upon an enemy he could not beat. Chief McKinley and his clan.

while he told his story, Corvinus moved closer to the table to grab the vial in the most unthreatingly manner possible.

Thus he chose to fight him in a duel. Kinley accepted as otherwise he would have lost his honour and looked like a coward. But now comes the part that is interesting for you. Kinley treid to poison the Manskinner. But failed one time. Then at the morning of the battle Manskinner stood before him and cut his wrist with his axe to show that he didn't use a poison. Without blinking Kinley did the same. And died in the duel. Shortly thereafter the Jarl died of the Poison in the Weapon of Chief McKinley. You know what i mean? Kinley saw that he had no chance and poisoned himself with the good knowledge that his enemy would die too. And i am standing here in front of you either with the choice to bend my knee or die...well

take the vial drink it, tell Ives to catch it ,throw it over and only when im sure that he catched it throw my axe into his face, and dive away if he manages to shoot his crossbow. Retrieve the Axe and the Crossbow and if it is still loaded shoot with it at Eshir. Kill the two guards, then if Eshir is still alive, take him as hostage and kill Dala, or if Eshir is dead grab Dala as hostage and try to get out.

otherwse if he completely ignores the vial, grin arrogantly say that i choose the first and without a word walk towards the door, grab a guard the moment i open the door and smash his face into it. Then grab the other one slit his throat and use him as a shield against the crossbow. Kill everybody except Eshir and use him as a hostage to get to the port...

William looks dejected and his voice is grim and filled with depression.
"The Baroness asked us to deal with a monster in the basement...we went down there and found nothing but some old bones of a dragon. Long dead. My guard John went up and got the Baron. When he got there, he yelled something about an old demon coming back. And attacked his wife. We tried to pull him off of her, but it was too late.
We attempted to subdue or disarm the Baron, but he turned the blade upon himself, he stabbed himself mutiple times...I thought I could see the Baroness breathing, so I picked her up, and Thom picked up the Baron, not wanting to leave him in that place, and we ran up the stairs as fast as we could. But I was too late, apparently."

"Well...We can perhaps say that we're operating a charity..."

"Under the guise of your people acting as my...distributors and such. Course that would mean that we actually would need to open some kind of charity. That would be useful actually, getting the approval of the poor and needy is useful..."

[6] The lackey nods grimly.

"Well, you seem like a trustworthy person. Truth be told, the Baron was going a little crazy for a while now, and there was a rumour that he was doing something in the basement. And I suppose his wife wouldn't want to live on without him. In a way, him killing her was a kindness. I wonder if that's what he thought, in his madness?"

He looks thoughtful for a while. Suddenly he looks back at you.

"Wait, did you say a dragon? By the light, the church is going to kill us! If word gets out... oh gods, oh gods. Please- you have to get rid of it. The church here, they have a story- its- the point is that if that skeleton is real, we are in a lot of trouble. Perhaps the Baron was wise to take the fast way out. Listen, you're from the cities, right? You can take it back with you- they won't care about folk-stories there. But you have to leave quickly- the priests will be all over this place when they hear there was a suicide- warding against evil spirits. If they find the dragon, we all go down"

((Isn't the skeleton stuck into the rock?))
William looks worried but his voice is calm and level. He doesn't move
"What church would kill you for having a skeleton in your basement? And is this church very popular? That skeleton aint coming out, not for a bit, it's stuck in the goddamn rock! But I have a plan, but I need help. Will you people help or do I have to do it all myself?"

He nods, "That...could actually work. You'd need a royal sanction though. The Queen is quite useful in that regard. With her approval even the city watch would ignore you."

"Yes...I'll meet with the queen very soon...I believe that our agreement has been hammered out? If so perhaps you can send one of your men to the Embassy sometime today to organize some of our operations?"

If we're done here, leave the inn and head to the palace.

((Isn't the skeleton stuck into the rock?))
((Yes. He doesn't know that, though. He just wants to get rid of it. Besides, with enough manpower, you could chisel it free, break it into bits, and transport it away. Seriously, throwing you a bone here. Get the skeleton, with the catch that you might get into trouble with some old-school religious types.))

"What church? The Northern Taloisist Church. The Church. Its an old story. Some old lord made a deal with the deep ones for power. They say that in exchange, he left their messenger- a dragon of great size- intact, buried beneath the earth. Each year the church in town makes a big deal of looking for this thing, digging holes all over the place. They've asked to look around in the dungeons, but have always been turned away. On the merest hint that its actually down there, they will kill everyone in the castle to find it"

"Of course we will help you, all of us. We don't want that thing around- hocus pocus demon powers are nothing for a modern age, thank you!"

Strange kid.

"Come on, to the palace."
He said to his men.

Later at the Palace...

"I've come to meet with the Queen...again."

"Yes milord, we'll send a message in."

Retcyl let the "milord" pass. Humans had no manners, then again they never learned them.

Retcyl entered the ante-chamber and waited. Again.

Meet with the Queen.

"Is that so?" inquired Oli'c. "Very interesting. Is there anything we can do for you? We have many talents."

I did not think so many came to this town, thought Oli'c. She may be one of the few who isn't as suspicious of strangers.

Ask for work

"But what if, say...someone killed the priests and burnt the church in this city? Would the common-folk be pissed? And when do these churchmen arrive?"

Regardless of the answer, Thom, John and Jan, start working on blocking up the hole in the wall that leads to the Dragon Skeleton, no one else is to help. And heres the part that needs to be started on immeditatly; The people also find a few chickens and butcher them in the wine cellar and William will put the dagger used by the Baron besides one of the bloodstains. He will also lock any door that leads down to the catacombs. The Winecellar is to be brightly lit and nice. If the priest arrives, William will stop him and chat about the priest's religion, and how does one go about joining it. Until it's done. The William will pester the priest about his religion, if he starts talking to the servents about their master's death. Hopefully the wall will be finished by then.

((You could've just walked out with the skeleton. Not sure why you are complicating things. Welp.))

"But what if, say...someone killed the priests and burnt the church in this city? Would the common-folk be pissed? And when do these churchmen arrive?"
The lackey gives you a shocked look.

"Would they be... pissed? If you burnt the church and killed the priests? Sir, I would be pissed if you did that. They're just doing what God asks of them, and when you get right down to it, we are in the wrong- lying to the church, harbouring a demon- even if we didn't know we were doing it."

"Anyway... the priests won't come until tomorrow, at least. Whatever you're planning, you have some time, but not too much."

You do those things you said (slaughter chickens, repair-ish the wall). The wall is shoddy- A façade of stone over wood. Reconstructing it properly would take days. It won't fool anyone for long.

Max Yeskly escorts him to the trial. He watches it intently as he is wondering about the archbishops past now that it was mentioned.(if I was only suposed to escort him then i do that. But i doubt his men will attack me.)

((How could i properly remove the stone from a fifteen foot skeleton, removing the stone underneath without damaging the bones. How could I get roughly fifteen feet of solid rock out on three horses, in one day, without no one seeing the bones and reporting it to the church? Where would i get the chisels, hammers, manpower to do this properly, it would take longer then one day.))

William puts the dagger back into the Baron's sheathe, then getting a bucket of water he wipes the fake mess up a bit, and relights all the torches.
Finding the lackey again, he asks him a question.
"So did the Baron and Baroness, God's rest their souls, have any children? I need the owner of the castle's permission before I can bring my workmen in. Its one of my people's funny little habits."

William sends John out to bring William's regiment up here,  they are to be dressed in plainclothes with the leather armor on underneath, as well as their weapons hidden.((I just want a roll to see when they get here. 65 people are in the regiment.)) The camp followers and retinue are to stay put. Meanwhile, William finds some men and wagons and hires them for next week for a trip to Ligoria or one this week, depending on how things go. He also quietly buys alot of chisels and hammers.
