The messenger arrives at the Cheap Inn, where Etiac was staying, a week after William left. She opened the door, dodged the thrown barstool and headed up the stairs two at a time. The messenger knocked on the door and when Etiac answered thrust a large vellum scroll, with lots of legal phrasings and a black rose sigil in pot metal at the top, into the man's hands. A note was also given to Etiac.
The messenger turned sharply on her heels and left.

While Kathos had been expecting Locanil, he did not show his surprise and he greeted Retcyl warmly.

"Welcome, ambassador. I am Kathos Thunderblade, baron of Ligoria - but you may call me Kathos. What brings you here? As far as I know, no hatcuri was seen in the storm coast since Locanil, and that was long ago."

"I've come to make sure that the estates in the countryside are all in working order and that there are no issues...And how do you know Locanil?"

"An honorable task, ambassador. I do not think there are any issues in these parcels - but if you wish to see that by yourself, go ahead. If you do find a problem, make sure to inform me and I'll deal with it."

At the mention of Locanil, Kathos smiled.

"I do not know Locanil. However, my grandfather did. They both served the kingdom of Elbreth at the same time...

The baron hesitated for a few seconds, lost in his thoughts.

"If I may ask, Retcyl... Did you meet the other nobles before you arrived to my lands?"

Kathos looked at Retcyl carefully.

"I mainly wanted to learn about them, but... Is there something 'dirty' I should know about, ambassador?"

"No...Well not exactly. Forgive me, but dirty was the wrong word. Politics was the word yes; they are so similiar in my tongue. What do you think of the queen?"

"Oh... Of course... I do not know the queen well enough yet to have an opinion about her. I try not to judge people before I get to know them well... And for now, I only spoke with the queen once."

Since Kathos did not like the way this conversation was going, he started asking his questions.

"What can you say about the other nobles, Retcyl? I left the city before the queen gave lands to the two others, I don't know anything about them.

"I know one personally...From what I can tell, he can be suspicious and perhaps he doesn't treat his peasants well. I'm not sure about that though, only an observation. The other one is a young woman...I don't know much about her except that she collects art...She's hiding something but what I have no idea."

Too much small talk...Perhaps Retcyl should ask something more related to his task.

"Now, if I may ask, what does your estate mainly produce? Just something I'd like to know..."

His informations on the nobles were... Interesting.

"Mainly wine and grain. I am working on expanding the production of these products. Anything else you want to talk about, ambassador? I will soon leave my estate, but I have to do a few things first."

Later that day...

'Tala' had acquired a number of works of art...and not a few connections. She figured it was about time to move forward.

Action: The Nobless Tala Alanis is holding a Soiree in the palace-at her own expense, of course. Try and find buyers for my art...and try and get in touch with contacts for my real mission.

Invite everyone who matters!
((Like, all the Noble NPCs/nobles players/players connected to the nobility? Even Send Hugo a sarcastic invitation, knowing he will most likely decline. Queen gets an invitation, but with subtle discouragement "..Such a small party is hardly fitting your grace, as honored as would be if did attend..."))

@Everyone: You recieve the following wax sealed letter in thick pink paper envelopes...male guests can detect the faint scent of perfume, female guests cologne. They seem to be handwritten in a flowing script.

Quote from: You are graciously invited!

To attend a Summer Art Auction, funded by Nobless Tala Alanis...

We have many fine works for perusal and bidding-many fresh artists will debut their works here, including Hugo Van Vissersdorp Himself!

The party begins at 8 P.M Sharp on the Palace West Lawn on the 17th-formal wear optional, meals and drinks provided at the Nobless's expense.

Bring a friend-meet new people-get caught up on whats happening around you!

I would very much like to see you attend.

All Glory to the Queen!

   ~Tala Alanis~

"I have nothing else to discuss, my lord. If I have your permission, I'm going to look around the estate."

If I get Thunderblade's permission, I go and see if there are any issues among the people and find out how many lesser nobles live here. See if there are any problems with bandits or the such. Or if there are any plagues and strange illnesses.

Look for a convoy comeing into town try to find a group to escort, If not talk to religious leaders about a job purgeing heretics or escorting pilgrims

[1] Moun doesn't seem to get a lot of traffic in or out of the city for traders and the like. [3] Religious leaders don't seem to have any pilgrims heading out of town any time soon. [3] One of your men does know of a job from what he overheard from the group you came into town with - it sounded big. [2] Where exactly they went he seems to be vaguely aware of but [6] he's sure if the group splits up and spreads out ot the taverns in the city they might find out where everyone went. [2] You're not entirely convinced, neither is the rest of the crew. Some idea of work is better than nothing.

"You have my permission, Retcyl. I have only one condition: if you do find something, report it to me, or to someone working for me."

ĪLaterĪ

"We received a letter for you, my lord. Comes from a noble, I think."

The baron looked up from the book he was reading, and he took the letter in his hand. He liked the scent of the perfume, but not the message itself. Kathos did not like art. However, he needed to meet some nobles - in fact, he had planned to meet with the nearest baron during the following days. He might meet quite a few nobles at this party.

"Guard... Tell the steward I'll be away for a few days."

Go to the art auction.
