He grinned sheepishly at the captain before speaking.
"Well, good sir, this is where I think I get off...But my men would like to thank you for getting me out of Talama alive. They want to throw a party and would be very honored if you and your men could come. So can you?"

((Right, right))
[1] The captain smiles at you. Not a happy smile.
"Ah party, aye? Well, that sounds reel nice, but I cannae help but notice the large amount of armed lads you got standing on the shore there, with looks to be catchin' the next tide oot of here, yet my vessel ain't large enough for all o' them and me crew. The glint in yer eye tells me that you were maybe thinking o' taken this ship for yerself, leaving me bleedin' in the surf. Well, if this is your stop, then I'll thank ye kindly for the invitation, take me extra ducat, and be headed off, fer I have no time for parties this day."

He holds out his hand as if he actually expects the money, his other hand resting on his sword.

William was smiling, and it wasn't a nice smile.
"Its on the wagons...I don't have it on me..."

Count how many guards are in the room, without moving preferbly.

Lucius looked around the deck. The sailors of the "Vulture" had already finished mooring the ship and awaited impatiently the highly awaited moment where they could hit the taverns. The captain also looked like he had enough of him.

"Well, I will take it from here.", he said mildly. The merchant nodded. There were no need to babysit the seamen and he was eager to take a look at the land of opportunities which awaited him.

"Nice job, everyone!", he said with enthusiasm. He despised them, of course - filthy, coarse and superstitious people. Still, they were his employees right now, so he owed them at least some kind words. If only this could suffice as a payment... But nope, it won't. It was high time to stop slacking and earn some money at last.

He shuddered, even in his fur coat. He was always a skinny man, not adapted to the cold weather. Still, he couldn't complain. It was winter in Talama and his cargo hold had a bit of wheat grain. Only a complete and utter moron could fail selling food in the winter.

Try to find the market and check if the current price of grain seems decent. Sell it if it is.

There's a crewman sitting by the side of the room watching the conversation disinterestedly. But this is a small, light ship, the sounds of swordplay would be heard all over, and it would be mere moments before more of the crew arrived, and the captain, though probably not an expert fighter, looks like he has enough skill with the blade to hold you off long enough for the numbers to overwhelm you.

"On the wagons, aye. You'd do well to fetch it, then. Though I'd quite understand if ye forgot what ye were doing the moment you stepped ashore, and that'd be fine. I'd sail away and we'd say nothin' of it."

The young merchant could barely hide his astonishment. He was fully prepared to sail out somewhere else - Ligoria was not a wasteland, after all. The merchant he approached, however, was happy to accept his ridiculously high price. Either he was stupid, or the kingdom was mismanaged. Some talks with other traders convinced him that the former is the case.

It seemed that the city itself produced almost nothing. Most of Ligoria's riches came from the countryside: grain, lumber which would make every carpenter recoil in horror... and some wine. The latter would be a prudent investment, if only locals didn't glug most of it. The only option was to buy some grain and find some place where someone would want it. Which seemed unlikely...

Galam and Lechem seemed like places where this wood could actually be sold. The first one seemed to desperately need anything, but it was infamous of its outrageous taxes. Lechem sounded like more sensible option - they were a small island kingdom which meant they really, really needed some. You can't make barges from stone, after all.

Buy as much timber as my finances and cargo hold allow (that would be 1 unit, right?), then sail to Lechem.

"Hmm...alright then, I'll go get your money..."

William had sent his items to the caravan earlier in the day, this meeting was supposed to be the last thing he did today. He was getting rather tired of people figuring out he was lying, bluffing, or going to deceive them.
I really have to get better at that.

((One unit would be correct.))

It costs you three ducats to obtain the lumber from the market, though you could sell it at a higher price still in Lechem...

Gregor sighs, and says "well if there is nothing good, then I'll hunt down the ships here, will there be any reward for capture? or is it kill then all?"

[4] Runners reach Shola [1] long before they reach Ligoria. Lord Cain sends word to his emissary in Ligoria with an added letter to the Queen. [5] Word from Cain reaches Hyte two days before the Mileth runner reaches Talama.

Talama, Laythe's Throne Room

Hyte brings his letter to Laythe as well as the one to him from Hyte. Strangely they're nearly identical. The queen seems to be meeting with another functionary of the city on routine business. Noticing this, Hyte stands near the door holding both letters.

What was wrong with this country? Even the goods from the countryside were overpriced somewhat. There were still money to be made in Lethem, but if the situation is as bad right now, what would happen if Ligoria ever is at war with anyone?

It was still not the time to set sail, though. He had several days in the city before dockworkers finish with the timber. Not to mention paperwork, including tax. Besides, the crew needed some time on the shore before sailing again. He could sit on his ass in the tavern, but he didn't come here to rest.

Frequent the taverns, trying to narrow down major opportunities in this town. Pay attention to all news about larger constructions jobs, increased military recruitment or expanding businesses.

Hyte nods to the functionary, who doesn't seem to like Hyte's interruption.

"Nothing good my Queen. It appears...well I'll let you see the letters yourself"

The letters detail a scout report from Mileth.
5 Regiments were spotted before the runners were dispatched:
2x Standard Infantry
3x Tactical Infantry

The report also contains some information from Lord Cain that he will try to get better intel as well as a tactical assessment of Mileth's situation.

[2] Major opportunities seem rare in Talama. Much of the larger projects in the region require a writ from the Queen. [4] You hear about the Hatcuri embassy as well as the Wine business that were constructed in the last year. [5] Gossip informs you of the recent issues between the nobility and the Queen, namely former Lord William. [5] You also learn that there is a rather large and functional Thieves Guild in the city known only as the Bloody Fist. They've apparently been more active and profitable as of late. No one is sure how they're hiding their activities, but everyone is sure they would probably be in need of smugglers and pirates. Though no one recommends you attempt to contact them given the Queen's reactions to even legitimate religious peacekeepers.

'Tala' supposed he thought the Shiner-if that was who he was-considered himself stealthy, and he was...but he stood out far too much from the crowd. A Beginners mistake. She mimicked pointing out something to her guards, giving her the chance to whisper them instructions under her breath...

Have my guards encircle the Shriner from both sides undetected.

We need to talk-try to keep him from running-no swords drawn yet.
