"Before I authorize any action to be taken against these followers of the eastern shrine, you go find out what their beliefs are first. Understood?"

"Uhm, thank you."
"No problem. Hopefully winter should be better. Considering the dragon empire is at it again..."

"Actually, the practice originated as that. But anyway, I have nothing else to speak of. Goodbye for now."

Retcyl left, and prepared his men.

"Before I authorize any action to be taken against these followers of the eastern shrine, you go find out what their beliefs are first. Understood?"
The man smiles faintly. He appears confused. After a few moments of silence, he speaks:

"Certainly, madam. I shall return to Moun and gather the information you request. I shall return as soon as possible. In the mean time, may I advise watching out for any... dangerous activity on the part of the Shriners?"

The man leaves, though he does not leave the city immediately. He spends the night in a tavern, and, plainclothed, wanders around town looking for the Shriners. He leaves the following day, [3] with the Shriners left undisturbed. For now.

"Actually, the practice originated as that."
((Yeah, I figured as much))

"Well, your lord could, say, kill the noble via poisoning or some other clandestine matter, fabricate some claims and he mihgt have a few more parcels..."

"That is true..." Hyte turns away from the queen as if musing over the idea. Finally he turns back with a frown, "No...poisons are rather messy in affairs such as those. Blackmail is better, alas there is little to blackmail minor land barons over. They rarely do anything let alone anything wrong. No I supposed my Lord will either annoy them into leaving him alone or they'll never actually show up."

"Ah well. I may end up dealing with a few of them. I doubt they'll show though... You're dismissed for now Hyte."

"Alrighty then boys that's the last crate of bones and the last bit of gold. It's time for a break."
John watched the newbies  walk off with a small grin. They were horsing around, pushing each other, laughing about exploring new lands and fighting filthy foreigners. They were full of energy and wanting to see the world, oh how that brought back the memories…
But a sharp bit of guilt shot through him when he remembered the recruits that over the years, had joined up for the adventure, and how when push came to shove, they where usually the first ones to go down. John leaned against the wall and pulled a small cigar tin out of his boot, slipped one between his lips and lit a match on the wall.
He felt no anger towards William when he remembered those dead bo- guards, many of them where his friends,  but why would he feel anger toward Will? William paid them, and took care of them, and if need be beat the hell out of someone for them. He was a good leader; making sure his soldier’s lives came before victory. John was content with his lot. He lead the life of an adventurer, a wanderer, and that was far more interesting then being permanently posted somewhere, looking over the same landscape for years on end.

William's regiment leaves town. All of their belongings (The tents, the portable forge, the skeleton, all of the gold, whatever Thomas brings) on large carts, trundling out of the city slowly, under the guard of both regiments, towards the meetup point.

Thomas Talboh goes with William's men, bringing only a small candle.

In Hugo's office:
"Perfect. You'll find me pretty easily in the Palace, just ask a guard, he'll know where I reside. See you next week then."
Avitus exited the room, and after a few tries he finally emerged in the common room of the inn and left for the Palace.

[1] Oh, what's this? You want to use this nobleman's road? Too bad, access denied. Take the long way round. What's that, that road is poorly maintained and plagued by bandits? Aww, that sucks. We can understand how annoying self-righteous murderthieves can be.
(The agressive noblemen block access to their lands, forcing you to take a circuitous route over unfavourable terrain)
[5] Fortunately, you encounter no problems on the side roads. Heck, the scenery is pretty, and the weather is fine. So it takes you a few extra days to get to the meeting place? What could go wrong from that?

[3] Well, the captain William hired could start to wonder how long they have to hang around here in the middle of nowhere. The man's running a business, he wants to get you where you want to go ASAP, then get back to honest smuggling.
(Er, I assume you had the boat hang around. If not, disregard this.)

[6] Hugo speeds through the embassies paperwork easily. Heck, it isn't so bad. It's almost like an artform, really. A strange, repetitive artform, involving maths, but given a few tries he can usually make a decent guess as to what the numbers should be. Give or take a little.
Strange that he can calculate the weight of three stories of varied masonry and subsequently the requisite material and thickness required for supporting beams in an instant, whilst abstract sums leave him floundering. Lo Shalt The Blind Be Mine Pilot, And Guide Me Through The Darkest Storm. Looking back, those church fellows really knew what they were talking about.

Now then. About that university. With a whistle to Kraai to follow, he heads off to investigate the watchtower.
...
Nice place, bit old-fashioned and militaristic, but that can't be helped. He looks around a bit at the basic structure, taps a few of the wooden beams (with a long stick and extreme caution- but they aren't rotting, so no worries), clambers over the rafters above the fifth floor, and admires the view from the roof. It also occurs that as Avitus mentioned this being something to do with the Crow's past, it might be worth taking a closer look around.
[4] Eh... nothing. Obviously this place had some connection to the fellow, but there isn't anything interesting. Of course, Avitus would have picked out anything particularly noteworthy and taken it.

Right. Time to get to work, then. Measuring implements in hand, brain whirring, sketchpad ready, Hugo makes blueprints and an estimated cost for the conversion of the tower into a decent university.

William walked into the captain's room and sat down, he waited patiently for him to get done with whatever he was doing.
"So I hear your getting a bit impatient... how much money do you make in a year from your line of work? A ducat or so?"
Ask the captain much money he makes in a year.

[insert costs for university here] Current plans are roughly 2-4d plus a specialist or 2. I'm foggy on that part, its been a while since the costs were fresh in my head.

[4] The man looks insulted.
"She ain't the prettiest thing to sail the seas, but the old gal kens her way past any curious bastards who try to mess with her, and she cin make a fair speed whatever the headin'. Sure, pay, repairs, and bribes paid fur we probably make a ducat's profit, but that'll buy a good mug of beer, a warm bed, and a bonnie lass to share it with at every port, and we have the freedom of the seas, what no man cin take away frum us."

"Yes, she really is quite fast...That's why I want you to continue working for me. I'll pay you another ducat this year if you work with me 'till next winter, then you'll be free to do as you wish. How about it?"
