Only in Italy. He could conceivably go after Two Sicilies, but he allied with them.

Watching. I would suggest you get Austria on your side if you can't get Russia on your side.

Austria should be the preferred target for alliances. The distant threat of Russia is almost unimportant, if you cockblock the Black Sea. (that is assuming Russians have any fleet to begin with)

Then again : England AI tends to be.. wild.

It's not like either one of them would honor a call to arms anyway.

It's more to protect ourselves from Austria, a close threat, that proved time and again that it likes to meddle in Balkan politics.

Much to its dismay.

As I said in the original post, I'll be unable to continue this until at least this friday  :-\. Yeah, bad timing on my part, but come friday I'll make sure to start it back up again.

I vote for... are there any OPMs around us? If so, we should look into killing them.

Nope. The only people around us is the Ottomans and the Egyptians.

What factory would be most profitable for Greece?  I know that Greece ( thanks Vicky2 wiki ) is very, very poor, but once there is enough money, building and maintaining a factory is a real money maker, it's one of my favorite parts of Vicky 2.

So, yeah, can we see the world trade screen ( or if you can, just summarize the best resource that a Greek factory can produce ) please?

I do believe a cement factory is a solid investment, which consistently does well. (Everything needs cement)

In my Wallachia game, a cement factory did make me a good profit, until everyone in the world decided they didn't need it anymore.  I had to shut down the factory, because it wasn't making money, and no one wanted to work there.

This was already near 1900, or something like that.

Factories really aren't that expensive IIRC.  I would recommend building multiple factories and seeing which one is most profitable then closing the others until the profitable one is full.  Then if the market changes, you can redirect your workers.  I would recommend going for glass, winery, cement, liquor and paper or as many of them as you can afford.

Ok, back to my good computer now, a day ahead of time too. Itunes is on shuffle (Mirrorthrone-Dismay), booting up Victoria now.

Jan 1st 1843
3 factory projects (1 cement and 2 canned food) are cued up (I had no input in this) except there are no investors (0 capitalists). Should I keep the focus on Clergy or switch to encourage capitalists?

Taxes raised significantly (though not all the way) for the peasants and national stockpile increased.

Also, what should be done about research? We currently aaren't researching anything and have about 4000 points stored.

You are nowhere near rich enough for capitalists to be able to afford initial factories.  Switch to state capitalism and build factories yourself for the first couple of years.  Maybe you should start encouraging capitalists in a few years if your factories are humming along profitably but I wouldn't recommend it.  None of greece's parties have Laissez-faire as their ideology (the greatest thing about greece) so you can just expand all your factories with government money.  But for now, put the reactionaries in and start building factories with government money.
