Urist McMechanic was bitten by a cave spider!
« on: September 27, 2011, 07:40:42 am »

And for the last two years has been walking around 'dizzy'. I wasn't worried at first, but then suddenly two years passed.

Should I... Should I be doing something about this...?

I believe he will just pass out occasionally. Nothing serious.

Its a long time since I've encountered this though so I may be wrong...

Well, he hasn't been passing out. Just walking around with the flashing teal X and his status as been 'Dizzy' ever since. It's kind of annoying, in an OCD kind of way but only when I notice him.

Which is pretty often since he's a red smiley face that flashes with a teal X. >.>

It's a chronic symptom, so good luck with that.

...otherwise you could arrange an unfortunate accident if it is too annoying.

Yep prepare to have a dwarf that stumbles around 24/7. Also make sure that you dont have any narrow hallways with drops next to them other wise he might fall in.

So you had a dwarf bitten by a cave spider in the year 2009 and then suddenly you found yourself two years later in 2011. Yeah I think you might want to get something checked by a doctor... :P

Was the dwarf previously skilled in Engraving as well?  Has he developed any other odd traits?  For example, routinely gaining the Pickup Equipment task and exchanging his civilian clothes for a set of red and blue Dyed clothes?  Have there been unexplained webs appearing in the fort, potentially entrapping tantrumming or lawbreaking dwarves?  Has he been found on top of walls/in impossible to reach areas?

Watch this one carefully...

This is purely from a practical standpoint (and therefore has no business being on this forum), but I would probably keep him away from any mechanisms for a while. A dwarf that can't see straight, walk a straight line, or keep from crossing his feet as he walks is not one I would recommend building the machinery that is the difference between magma being a weapon and a FTW button.

FTW does not mean For The Win here.

Maybe the spider just sold him the filthiest keg of booze he ever had.

That would have such effect on me I think.
