Are humans the only biological/huminoid race? (I was thinking of rolling a bombadier dwarf powderkegger/alchemist who specializes in demolition, but that could easily be a human.)
What edition is being used?

You can post or PM them, it doesn't change much. Humans are the only (maybe) sentient race, and we're using M&M 2nd Edition. :)

I'm totally M&M2E-savvy, if that helps; I think it's the system I've played the most of. (That said, I believe your taking "move" out of the action-step list is a bit incorrect. It's only movement powers that can't have their action modified; other powers can still be modified to take a move action. Which is beneficial if you want to use your move action to do something other than, well, move. Still! GM>RAW, as they say, so it's your call.)

Anyway, I was thinking of playing a fine, upstanding conductor of the Royal Railway Company.
Which is to say, a Deicherian spy/smuggler. If that would be acceptable?

In that case we would have a treasure hunter, a catburglar and a smuggler.

Well, I think I'll be playing a nervous, distant young relative of the Lord Mayor, who happens to sneeze acid.
He's been sent out by his family, no doubt disapproving of his unmanliness, to help solve [insert crime/mission/quest the party goes on here] and ends up bumping into the other PCs as they go about their business, and decides tagging along could make his job easier.

Well, yeah! Projectile sneezing, what could be better? :D I guess he'll have to strike a fine balance of sickliness, so as not to flood the world, but if his sinuses are too dry he loses his powers.

Smuggler? Good sirrah, you wound me; the fine, upstanding conductors of the Royal Railway Company would never allow smugglers on board one of our fine, upstanding trains.

Unless they had a ticket, of course. Then the RRC's fine, upstanding responsibilities would be satisfied, and the RRC would be held blameless and not liable for any fine, upstanding criminal actions or intents.

At any rate, the cat burglar and treasure hunter can stay, but that chap in the iron knickerbockers is going to have to buy two tickets.

Also, would the gentleman with the corrosive allergies be a victim of a curse, perchance, or some alchemical mischief or other such nonsense?

And at any rate, the question is fairly begged: what is this motley lot going to do with one another? Track down some artifact or another, perhaps?

Well If I pick up another artifact we can be GHOST BUSTERS. Or yeah, Hunt down and sell artifacts or keep them for ourselves, going after bigger and bigger finds, Reverse engineering some of our smaller finds to be sold as trinkets but keeping the good stuff for ourselves.
