Saluton! (Tredo por la Praktiko de Esperanto)
« on: September 26, 2011, 08:42:26 pm »

Saluton! Mi estas decidanta lerni Esperanton. Mi ne estas Esperantisto- mi volas lerni la lingvon, sed mi ne kredas ke ĝi devas esti Unu Lingvo de Mondo. Sed ĝi amuzas min lerni ĝin.

Kiu alia parolas Esperanton, aŭ lernas ĝin?

Well, Esperanto seems to have enough English-related stuff to just barely kinda sorta have the vaguest idea what you said.

I'm not so sure anyone on here's very learned in Esperanto, though.

A professional linguist expresses my opinion of Esperanto.  I've only ever met Esperanto "speakers" online, suggesting to me that it's probably a lot easier to write than it is to actually say.

I translated the first post. Using a online translator. If anybody wants to see it or anything.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The wording is odd, like what most translators spit out, but you get the gist of it.

Look, I'm not learning Esperanto because I believe it to be the salvation of mankind. I'm just trying to see if anybody else here speaks/writes it.

My post was a joke. Probably should have indicated as such.

Anyway, I don't.

Man, Esperanto really is easy to get - I understood the most of that post just by reading it, and could guess the other. Maybe I should try to learn it myself sometime.

If we're going to be using a conlang, might as well make it Klingon.

Not really.
Quote from: The Wiki says...
A planned or constructed language—known colloquially as a conlang—is a language whose phonology, grammar, and/or vocabulary has been consciously devised by an individual or group, instead of having evolved naturally.

Conlangs tend to be more orderly than natlangs, because there's a conscious decision for most elements. There was no person or committee that decided that the plural of mouse is mice, but the plural of moose is moose. IMHO, the best conlangs inject a little irregularity into their design just to make it feel more "real".

Well, yeah. If you want to get technical about it, my not-especially-serious remark isn't 100% correct, no.

Sorry...I get kinda animated about conlangs. Been working on a couple of my own for years now.  :)
