If there's a doctor in the next wave of migrants, could you possibly name him Eastep Greybeard?
Hopefully he'll get the chance to stitch a few arms back on and ruin a perfectly good siege plan or two by running off to go fetch water.
Otherwise, I'll be keeping an eye on this one!
I'd offer to play a round, but I would probably spend my week reading the wiki to get things right. Huff.

Maybe I'll just write little snippets of stuff, just to contribute something.
Toodles.

So you're a noob do dwarf fortress? HELL YEAH :D
Every succession fort should have a noob who brings everything to insanity. By accident.

Also that is an awesome dorf name :P

Yep, I'd be the dude who forgot to feed all the animals. Then by the end of my turn I'd be scratching my head wondering why all these "The stray horse (tame) has starved to death" announcements keep happening when they're standing outside.
Damn.
They ate all the fucking grass!

Still, it would be fun just to try and navigate the fortress, what with everybody's contribution to the fort being made without any general direction.
"Since when have we had two mausoleums, two watchtowers built over each other, and an underground astral observatory? Oh, and the bedrooms are scattered everywhere! The architect must have been seriously drunk."

*Translation for migrants*
"Come on down to AshenArrows, and see the unique culture generated over many generations of dorf kind. Observe the ritual death of starvation which horses voluntarily undergo to provide the Fort with bone tooth picks. Gaze at the wonderous the idol of architecture that is the twisting tower of !!SCIENCE!! And if you're tired of cramped, underground and gloomy bedrooms, then why not try one of our newest rooms, suspended over a chasm full of lovely local fauna! Or try our riverside apartments, with lovely views of burning trees, or better yet, our newest apartment, located under inside the river!
*Alcohol is as usual, provided on a first drink, first serve basis.
**Prone to accidents.

Hullo! Got room for another?

I'd call myself a semi-newb; I've played a few forts, none of which lasted more than two years (if that), though my latest one will probably make it there if I don't get bored or antsy or do something silly. At any rate, I've never done succession before.

If I can be dorfed, I'll call dibs on any soon-to-be-extant cheesemaker. :p
Otherwise, just name some random dorf Timey McWimey and I'll be fine with that. ;)

So a doctor, and a cheesemaker walk to a stockpile. Actually, never mind this joke is a little cheesy.

I'm looking forward to this fort.

The doctor asks the cheese maker, "How many livers do you think it would take to screw in a mechanism?"

The cheesemaker holds up a cat.

I have no idea what that even means, (Timey McWimey knows cheeses, not livers and cogs :P) but I am now firmly associating dwarf mechanics with tool belts full of oddly shaped cats which make ratcheting noises.

In unrelated news, my first ever artifact was a cat leather quiver. In retrospect, and in consideration of the fact that I had specifically butchered cats so that my moody dwarf could have some tanned hides to work with, and had later used their fat to make a cat soap archery target (no sense in letting it go to waste, you see), I believe that a cherry of some sort has been quite frelling popped.
