Our first siege gets nne words? I guess it's better than 20 telling of all the deaths.

Actually, the siege was quite lame. One squad of goblins, the leader took only one bolt and the whole squad fled. No goblins were killed and only one to five bolts were launched.

Also, I'm pretty sure it wasn't our first siege. Have to check it out.

20th of Sandstone, year 105

As I was going through or stocks I noticed three cages still holding prisoners of war inside. That's unacceptable! We must slaughter them immediately!

So, the cages were installed, once again, and the linking done. Then we stationed Golden Depressions inside the arena.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The slaughter was quick even though we forgot to disarm the prisoners first. And, considering the lack of disarming, it was a small surprise none of our soldiers got hurt during the process. But finally we have all the cages emptied from unwanted prisoners.

3rd of Timber, year 105

We received another group of migrants today, eleven dwarves this time. Why in the hell they keep sending more and more dwarves here? Do they really think that we have enough time to worry about the feeding of all these dwarves during the continuous attacks? I have to discuss this with the liaison next time.

15th of Timber, year 105

The caravan and liaison from mountain home came today. And with them came another ambush squad of goblins.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With the help of caravan guards our soldiers were able to dispatch the intruders, and as far as I know no dwarves died during the process. One yak cow got badly injured but it should be able to survive back to mountain home

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The trading with merchants went as usual, we gave them lots of crafts and stuff left behind by elves and invaders and we got lots of food, alcohol, metals, cloth and so on.

After the trading it was time to meet the liaison once again. The first thing she told me was that our fortress was chosen to become county.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh the joy! Didn't expect this to happen so soon!

I also told the liaison not to send more migrants as we don't need more dwarves here and that we are reaching the limit of how many we can support. It would only be foolish to send more dwarves here as we can't be sure that our fortress stays as safe as it's right now. She agreed with me and promised to take the message to the queen. That's good.

24th of Moonstone, year 105

Today another artifact saw the daylight. It's magnetite figurine.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The image in the artifact relates to the ascension of the cursed rodent woman to hated enemy of our civilization. I'm a bit surprised that someone would want to make a artifact dedicated to this foul creature. On the other hand there is also a picture of bogeyman in the figuring so the whole artifacts seems to be a little strange. On the other hand it's quite valuable.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

25th of Moonstone, year 105

Today is the day when I can finally use the title "count" officially!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

One thing surprises me which I just realized; I'm still the mayor of this fortress as well. There is no known situations when baron or count is also the mayor as usually, when promoted, the baron will leave the position of mayor and the new one is elected. But one year has already passed and I'm still the mayor, elected by the dwarves of Combatbronze. Strange but I don't complain.

5th of Opal, year 105

As I'm count now I decided that I should have better quarters. So, as the expansion of my old one is impossible to expand, we need to build new one for me. The plans are already made and the miners should start working as soon as the expansion of food storage is ready.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

17th of Opal, year 105

We have our second farm plot ready. It will be used to grow some pig tail, which we can use to produce cloth. Perhaps we shall become independent from merchants in case of cloth.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

17th of Obsidian, year 105

The vikings have decided to pay a visit.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

All our soldiers were ordered to station at the predetermined locations and all civilians to stay inside. We counted over twenty vikings, half of them being archers. Even though their equipment isn't as good as ours I fear brutal battle coming.

18th of Obsidian, year 106

Are the vikings serious? Half of their forces scattered right after our archers begun shooting one of the leaders. The leader, axe lord, kept on coming towards our entrance but the whole squad he was leading scattered.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Now that there were only half of the invaders left the situation looked much better. When our soldiers charged towards the invading forces they begun to flee. The victory song was almost in the air when suddenly a band of fallen humans was spotted just outside the entrance.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We have heard of these foul creatures. Fortunately , at least in this case, the tales weren't accurate as the fallen humans weren't carrying equipment made from fell adamantine, a material that is almost equal to adamantine. Fortunately this wasn't the case this time, and so our soldiers decided to attack the new threat instead of chasing down the fleeing vikings.

After the ambush squad had been slain, which was a bloody fight, another one appeared right in front of our soldiers. This wasn't a good thing as Jacen had taken some serious injuries and had some troubles with breathing.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Again the fallen humans were slain down, and surprisingly even without any losses. But during all this chaos the vikings had turned around and were approaching the soldiers who unfortunately weren't enjoying the safety of walls anymore. And so begun another clash in the series of clashes.

As the vikings were far enough our soldiers decided to retreat inside for healing, as every single dwarf from the the Golden Depressions were more or less injured. The lever was pulled and the entrance blocked, leaving the vikings in the mercy of our archers. As the vikings realized they had no chance of entering the fortress they retreated, leaving us as victories of the battle.

28th of Obsidian, year 105

One year is behind again, and surprisingly we are still alive. We have been under constant attack or threat of attack, which culminated to the battle that took place just several days ago.

So far I have been informed that Derm has only flesh wounds, Nix will be unable to use his right hand but should be otherwise fine, Bowie is suffering only from flesh wounds like Derm, Ahra will be unable to use his right hand and Dirge just need some bandages and cleaning. Also the breathing problems of Jacen weren't serious, but as most of the squad he can't use his right hand anymore. What's with the injuries in right hands only?

Otherwise things are running well. We are county now, we have started another industry, our temple area is only missing temples and so on. Our wealth is well over two millions bucks, which is a lot.

I'd like to be Dwarfed as G, male, Speardwarf and brewer.

I can do that though I suggest you take a pick between speardwarf and brewer. This is because warriors, being their own caste, are very, very bad at any other work and on the other hand all non-warriors are very lousy soldiers, most likely ending up to grave during the first attack.

If you really want to have both professions then which one shall be your main profession? This will determine from which caste I take a dwarf.

Finally, if someone wants to get more information about the claimed dwarf the just ask. This includes but is not limited to health information and Thoughts And Preferences -screen. I'm not going to update those regulary, only if/when asked.

I'm guessing the reason so many of us can't use our right hands is because we tried to punch the enemies' blades with our right fists.

Other than that, that was a good bunch of battles.

THIS!  IS!  SPA-

*Shot in the back for cliche line*

9th of Granite, year 106

I was just informed that my new chambers are ready. I could say finally as it was well over a month ago when I ordered the construction to begin. I know we were under siege during that month and I know that our engravers have been busy with other things but still, over a month just to make three small rooms? Not acceptable!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

25th of Granite, year 106

Another migrant wave? Didn't I just ask the liaison NOT to send anymore dwarves here?

After I interviewed the twenty-two new dwarves I learned that they had already left the mountain home before the caravan or the liaison returned. Now that's going to explain why more dwarves were sent here, apparently our queen didn't know we are already full.

This new group of migrants has brought our population over two hundred dwarves. I hope no more comes this way, otherwise we have a problem.

I'm also considering rearrangement of our workers. Currently lots of dwarves have same labors assigned and thus not everything gets done as quickly as I would want.

2nd of Felsite, year 106

I just received the news that the barracks complex is finally ready!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The huge area in the center is the training grounds, and on the north side there are the archery ranges. The rooms constructed to the west side is currently reserved for the Golden Depressions and the eastern chambers are for the Copper Wings. The soldiers in the Golden Depressions have already moved there, some time ago in fact. But now our archers can move down there as well.

Now, I have heard that there will be new member in the Golden Depressions, someone called G. I don't know the lad but apparently we must expand the west wing a bit to give him proper chamber. I have also planned moving the arena down there as well.

12th of Felsite, year 106

The dwarf called G joined the ranks of Golden Depressions today. He was given full adamantine armor set, shield and spear. I hope he doesn't break his right hand immediately. If he does I'm inclined to believe there is some kind of curse going on with the squad. Or they are masochists and breaking the hand is some kind of ritual for them.

One funny thing I also noted today; Derm is using his old trusty iron axe again instead of the adamantine one. When I asked him why and what happened to the adamantine one he just replied that the weight of the new axe didn't seem right, so he gave it to Jacen and begun to use the old one instead. That's strange, though it doesn't really matter as long as both of them are able to kill enemies. And at least Dem is fully capable of doing that, just look at his kill list. Over forty killed enemies, that's a lot!

That makes perfect sense.  Spartan Dwarven warriors, in order to prove their manhood, sacrifice the usage of one hand.  That way, if they survive a battle using their weapon in their left hand, they get more glory.

That is by blind chance. In fact, Athra has been an RP character for years. By the way, I think I will take your advice Kipi.
One spear dwarf named Dirge please. Hopefully he will last a wee bit longer.

Done! And the hopes for survival are at least good enough, he already got his first kill; the marsh titan!
Wow, I come back after loosing my fort to a siege to find out that I di- Wait.. . . . . . I killed a what?!?!?!?!? Man. . . . .Thats an epic first kill.
