I think it would be fun to do a dwarf fortress style embark in minecraft. I love both games and had the idea, seeing as they are similar in aspects. If some people wanted to get together on the weekends to try this, I would love it. I would definitely be a mechanic/engineer, seeing as redstone is my favorite . What do you guys think? even if this has been done before, I would like to give it a shot

Hmm, interesting idea. Some questions:

Would the players have strictly defined roles (like, only the designated carpenter can gather wood), or would everyone be able to do what they want?
Would everyone have to be online at certain times?

I'm sure I have more, but that's all I can think of for now.

I have been thinking about and looking for servers based on this exact idea. I live in canada and would love to give this a try, but how would thingd like designation work and would we use vent or skype or something. You should re-write your first post and clarify your ideas.

Would the goblin team (should there be one) be allowed to destroy dwarven blocks? It's well known that only dwarves can undo dwarven constructions.

We should have one big room near the start of the fort with a (somewhat roughly-dwarfishly-made) model of the fort, for orientation and so on. Maybe shields on the floor, roughly one block for every 32x32 block of the fort?
