If you kill an elf with a wooden bolt fired from a wooden crossbow through a wooden fortification (wood blocks -> fortify), does that make their ghost twice as angry, or three times?

Irrelevant. It's all hilarious. And practical for the metal-deficient forts. It's a bit of a waste to shoot iron bolts at someone wearing only plant fibre and wood.

Well yeah, that's the point.  Let's try to figure out how to make the ghost even angrier!

mods?

I'd say the grass is a one-off bug

This was a bug partially (but not entirely, obviously) fixed in 31.22. It wasn't that long ago; I'm surprised people don't remember this coming up earlier.

IIRC, except for metal bars, you need to make blocks to fortify non-natural walls.  Wood might be an exception, I ahven't actually built anything wooden recently (there's more limestone in my map than there is air).

You can just directly build fortifications with b+C+F and I'm relatively quite sure you can use any stone, brick, bar, block or log for that.

But your way does have increased value, lower build time (ingoring the time needed for making the blocks in the first place) and are IIRC sturdier too.

Oh, and by the way, if you use anything other than pumps to open that reservoir, it will literally flood your entire fort in an instant.

"Grass" still crops on up occasion, even in 31.25, and especially on glitched worlds, like this one (Caution, spoilers). Read through the thread, you'll find embark sites with this mystery grass.

Anyways, it's probably the clay and sand, yeah. Pave it over (Pave, not b-C-F) and you won't have cellulose-based issues.

By the way, why did you stop exploring that world?

That's the point.  And i don't see how it can - there's an arch they have to go over to get in.  Floor hatches to keep out gobbos.

What? Who has to go over the arch?

I'm talking about water pressure and the perils it entails...

Don't worry, i'm WELL versed in that with my old 2-level reactor.  The pressure is the point.  Open channel out to the front door and EVERYTHING i dislike is going to be in dire need of swimming lessons.  I don't need water for a reactor as i just channeled a section over the local aquifer open and stuck waterwheels down.  Cheap, constant and perpetual power as water flows out AND back into the aquifer.
