Turn 14 - Time Jump ?!?!, and Here they Come
Inner Gate

Your search proves more fruitful this time, and among the rubble you find a pair of Rusty Twin-blades, and giving them a quick spin you think you find they are quite well balanced, and are, frighteningly enough, just right for you.  After stashing the swords in your pack you set about helping with the barricade, and by the time its finished you find it comes up to your neck, and has small stacks of wood, or rubble here, and there to make for good archer spots.

Sinclair (Sinpwn)

You walk up, and down the barricade checking for any flaws, and pushing every now, and then to check for weaknesses. After several minutes you find the barricade to be quite well built, and it should hold well enough in combat. With that done you go back, a little ways, and rest up for the coming battle.

Sonia (SeriousConcentrate)

You quickly go about your work, and craft three Fireblast runes before spending twenty making the fish just right for your trap, you have a feeling that the first Daemon to try, and eat it will get quite a surprise. With your trap making done you add one final touch to the fish, another Fireblast rune under its tongue. You then toss it over the wall, and wait for the coming horde as the sounds grow ever louder.

Kazen (Talrion)
Your work to help build the barricade comes in handy, and by the time you have finished you know it will take your foe some time to get through this. With that done you go back to where your other allies sit, and do the same.

Everyone
With the barricade finished you, and the soldiers decide to rest for the coming battle, for it will be a long, and hard one no matter what happens. As the time passes the sounds of the approaching army grow louder, and louder until you can hear the voices as the Daemons chant their war songs. A shiver goes up your spine as you listen, and you notice that even though the words are of another language you can understand their meaning, and that makes you shiver again.

You watch, and around the corner the Daemons come, before you all that can be seen down the road is the Daemon forces, and behind them are arrayed a variety of creatures ranging from Minotaurs to Hellhounds, and even Dae-tons. They outnumber you 20 to 1, and you know that there is little hope, but you also know there is no place to flee to. Fighting is your only choice, and as you, and the others  line up behind the makeshift wall the first wave comes forward.

Your work continues yet again, and after fifteen more minutes you have all the barricades finished, and your soldiers should be arriving soon. In the meantime you sit back, and rest waiting for them to arrive. From the tunnels you hear shuffling, clanking, and even the sound of metal on metal. Whatever is in the tunnels is either huge, or there are a ton of them.

Whats the stats on the swords?

Make speech to raise morale. "Although I have just met all of you I have to say, you all are some of the best fighters I've ever seen! We may be outnumbered 20 to 1, but I believe that we can take them! We can beat those monsters back to whatever plane or world they were summoned from! And though some of us may die, it shall be known that they died a hero of this empire! We shall win this battle!"

I'm not very good at this boasting thing am I?

Sonia whistled loudly and clapped. If everyone else had more morale because of the man's speech, they would fight harder... and that meant she had more people to hide behind. Speaking of... She turned to Jasper and Henry. "Let's do our best!" she said cheerfully, raising a hand. And as soon as those demons appear, they're going to get the first spell I can cast, she thought, getting out her spellbook for studying.

nope, not intentional at least,

the intent was, when they think of home, they realise that if they fail here then the daemons will be able to destroy thier home blah,blah so they will fight as hard as they can

Sinclair cracks his neck and looks towards the shadow.
"Go jump over the barricade and be a distraction. Worry more about evading the daemons and keeping their attention than fighting them. Got that?

The Shadow bows its heads, and clasps its hand together as if he was praying. As he finishes, and steps forward blades of pure shadows appear in his hands, and he spins them before stepping forward to follow his master's orders.

Cor prepares for the incoming attack, hoping the soldiers/guards will stick to the plan,
and that there will be minimum casualties, preferably none.

Hmm. Definitely for large scale battles; small skirmishes might not need them, but that's up to you. ^^^ Maybe for towns, too...
