You climb onto the boat. You're very lucky, and nobody seems to be on board, or noticing you getting on-board. It seems to be a fairly small boat - a pinnace. It is likely a fishing boat. What now?

Dwarven Science: We do what we must, because, we're bored.

Every few miles, [the dwarves] stop the cart.  One of the dwarfs (sic) gets off, digs a hole down below the dirt layers, licks the bedrock, and then they know exactly where they are.  It's called GPS: Geological Piquancy Sampling.

The ship? Explore? Huh? I thought this was a small fishing boat that you were lucky to clamber into without capsizing it. Thought this was a 'lil row boat   ??? confused.

Shh. The boat is now a sloop! And it has a little cabin. Who cares. Adventure!

Use the boat and your sailor skills to travel to that nice sand-colored dot on the horizon.

Cutting the rope attaching the Sloop to the dock, you begin sailing into the distance, to a faint island in the distance.

During your voyage, you search the tiny cabin underneath the ship. There is a cramped room with one bed, a chest. On the desk was a quill and paper, and thirty cents.

After what seems like an hour of sailing, you arrive to the West of the island, marked "Deadsand Island". From what you can see on 'your' Sloop, the island is devoid of life, other than a few small patches of sparse grass. You see a shipwreck to the south.

Go to the shipwreck, and croon on the way there. Also remove dress and wear the shirt and pants.

You want to be crazy? Wear the shirt as pants and rip the pants apart and wear each pant leg as sleeves.

I thought we're only slightly crazy. But if you say so, sure, let's do that. With the dress on.

Practice swimming. We are now on a boat next to an island surrounded by water. Let's just bell the cat and go drowning.
