Age... growing old is so saddening
« on: February 24, 2008, 11:04:00 pm »

Hey, there's probably been a thread about this but... meh.

How long have you been playing Dwarf Fortress?

I've been playing this game since... wow... since I was in grade 12 of Canada high school, which was one year after I left Malaysia Form 5 high school... which would be... two and a half years ago!!! My first fond memory was wondering why floods don't happen with only one floodgate.

HOLY SHIT. Time flies.   :D

You've been playing DF for four years?  Or did I misread?

When I first started playing there was no world map, and half the buildings didn't work(2004), which was before the game was released(2006). For some crazy reason I thought it was a really fun game even back then...

Well, not continuously of course.

But I've played it since then.

There are bound to be those who played it longer than I.

Yeah, Toady.

I came about one or two versions before the z-level update.  Don't know how long that's been, but I've been hooked ever since.

It was probably late Spring 2007 when I played DF for the first time. It was the last 2D version in any case (which stuck around till sometime October).

If you lost your GF because of DF then she wasn't worth it... unless she was the one playing and dumped you to play DF. Then you should present her to me  :D

I have been playing for two years but just once every four months or so. I can count the fortresses I have made with one hand. My current fortress is only active a few hours each weekend.
