Meanwhile in NYC: Zuccotti Park cleaning postponed, but the police may try to enforce new rules, especially anti-camping.  I was not aware that the park is technically privately owned, as land sold off by the city as a corporate plaza now leased back to the city.  There's a metaphor somewhere in there.

America is very important to me.
I want to save America, not tear it down.
We have come a long way in making America and the world a better place.
And most of the time, we have lead that way.
We are not perfect, and we have faltered, gone backwards a bit.
But fixing that and making way to more freedom and equality is what America is all about.
Damn right I am proud of America and the ideals we strive for.

Meh... I consider myself a person who happened to be born within an imaginary boundary defining a place called America.  I suppose that makes me an America.  I just don't like to call myself that, because it implies that I'm somehow on board with the things that the abstract collective entity America does.  I'll be proud of a group I chose to be a part of that does things that I'm proud of.  I won't be proud to be a member of a group that I didn't choose to be a part of, whose definitions of membership make no sense, whose unity is nearly non-existent, and whose actions I am not proud of.  I really wish more people would think that way.  I don't mean this as an insult to the people that live in America, as I do.  I mean it as an insult to the absurdity that is the concept of national identity.

The fact is, America the way it is now isn't following the core beliefs of the original constitution and Bill of Rights.
The America you're thinking of is one not run by private interest groups, oil companies, and pharmaceutical agencies.
And for the beliefs of freedom, equality, and justice for all, I would gladly give my life for.
