Corrupting the minds of our young presidents with their heavy metal clubs and sense of belonging in their custom colors... That Tiger Woods is a bad influence. If you weren't so damn judgemental maybe the president wouldn't have to run in those circles for acceptance!

So, I was reading the article on Cargo Cults, and for some reason it reminded me of OWS.

People who go through the motions that appear to lead to a reward for others, and are disappointed they don't get the same rewards.

Hey. Guess what? You're being a dick.

(Due to stereotyping a movement that includes a majority of members who don't resemble the cargo cults in the slightest. We are not all the lower bound.)

I really don't see your point. One is people with no knowledge of modern society assuming that our products are supernatural in origin, and the other is people upset that some people have far, far more wealth than they could possibly earn simply through the value of their work.

Right, Kogan. It's my fault. I apologize to Obama for criticizing him and making him not want to hang out with me. Next time you see him tell him for me I apologize and anytime he wants he can invite me over and we'll talk policy and strategy over a desk instead of a green.

Also I would hope Tiger Woods isn't influencing him. Next thing you know he'll get in trouble with Nike if he doesn't wear their symbol when he's on television.

But yeah, maybe I was being a little harsh on him. Sure he's played 100+ rounds of golf in his presidency while I've played 0 in my life, but he also says that's the only time he's able to be outside for extended periods. I guess I can't blame him if that's how he wants to spend his free time or for spending time away from his job.

Yeah, that's a good point except the president, if anyone, has use for a private customized airplane in order to fulfill his duties to the public. Maybe he should build one himself to satisfy you. Or maybe he could give free flights to people on the taxpayer dime when he's not using the plane; or maybe charge for it. Oh wait, any of those options might be socialism. Scary.

Poor guy can't win with some people.

That said he could probably use the internet instead of traveling but uh oh anonymous or worse foreign State hackers (not to mention the cost of setting up that kind of infrastructure; if modifying an existing airplane design is too much than than I doubt you'd be happy about the president having a super expensive personal internet [which the military probably has already that he uses and I don't know anything about anyways but probably isn't connected to foreign powers for obvious reasons])

In all fairness, Gaorge Carlin made fun of both sides. Mocking both sides' contradictory points. For example...

And one I find particularly important.

Eh. I fail to see how refusing to vote is solving the problem he recognizes exists. It's not saying, "Fuck em", it's saying, "Hey these guys are fine by me, I don't have to do anything about them." If you don't actually like the system, get off your ass and vote for somebody you would like to be in that office. Doesn't have to be somebody likely to win. Doesn't have to be somebody who's even running. You could vote for a fictional character or somebody long since dead. At least you send a message that way (however small and diluted).

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

(however small and diluted).

At a certain point your small and diluted message becomes so small and diluted that it reaches no one. And you might as well have not voted.

Just saying.

What if you don't think *any* of the leaders are better than *any* of the others, and perhaps excluding one or two situations, the sum total of the damage any political leader can do at any moment is equal to the sum total of the damage any other political leader will do.

I'd deface the voting slip in the UK but even that's putting in too much energy I can put towards doing things that actually could make my life better.
