I second these as screenshots that exemplify DF, but mainly for this reason:
Despite having multiple windows open saying "LECTURE FINAL," the Dwarf Fortress window is in focus.   8)

As it should be.

It needs to go on the front page of the Bay12games site.

I think perhaps the 'martial trance' picture from the wiki should be up there too.

There's a quote that must go with that second image.  You know the one.  No, I'm not going to fix it for you.

I think most of the screenies from magmawiki fit this description.  My favorites are the Courtyard of Sunlit Vomit and the Party of Universal Attendance.

That's my favorite so far. Catastrophy is always right around the corner in DF. You must slow down, and calmly decide what to do.
