Masters of the Broken World
« on: September 22, 2011, 01:53:46 pm »

Looks like something along the lines of Heroes of Might and Magic mixed with Civilization? Risk? Master of Magic? i cant really tell, it all comes down to how in depth its strategic elements are, but from what i have seen so far it looks like it is going to be my kind of game. and by my, i mean ours, because if you are here, there is probably something broken in your heads that makes you love huge and complicated games, and if you do, as you should love those, then this game is just the right game for us

and a russian developer who actually wanted to do it all by himself but then got funding and the back of a studio sounds even better.

here be an in depth article in RPS along with a pretty long live game footage video.

Well, the New Standard for any game remotely of this ilk comes down to:  Did they do a better job than Stardock's Elemental?

In this case, here's hoping as always given it reads to be pretty nifty.

Well in that case they shouldn't have any trouble.   :P

I just skimmed the article, but this game looks pretty fantastic.

Masters of the Broken World will hopefully launch at some point next year, but the devs say it’s ready when it’s ready.

Honestly, this is one of the best things I can hear in a preview. Nothing worse than a game with lots of potential getting rushed through the gate.

Pesonally I loved the concept of but was terrible at HoMM, but really got a kick out of MoM.  I think they are ballsy as all fuck to name a 4X game "Master(s) of *", and they'd better pull it off.

If i got this correctly, it's improved version of Eador, russian ongly game wich IS fantastic. It has crude graphics, was written by one person but the depth and 'tacticality' of battles was astonishing. I wasted couple of months playing it.

My hopes for FE are meh. Brad is getting excited about it again vocally and that was a troubling sign in Elemental's development, when he was so pleased with himself it signaled he was out of touch. I haven't been keeping up with it at all though, and it's free, so I'm going to try to be objective. (The lore, chances are, I won't be able to be objective about. Because Elemental's was terrible.)

Anyways, MotBW looks interesting but there's just too much to know that articles like this can't deliver. Definitely will keep my eye on it though. I like the broken planes kind of things, reminds me of Tyrants.

So, what is it more like? Master of Magic or Heroes of Might and Magic?

Far too many acronyms in this thread, and way too many references to other games (at least I think that's what's being said).
