When is the right time to take my friends to see the circus?
« on: September 20, 2011, 04:18:10 pm »

I have 50 legendary mostly candy clad soldiers, 5 candy spear men, 10 candy ax-men, 10 silver hammerdwarves, and 25 sword dwarves. I am using the Fortress Defense Mod, I have 165 dwarves and have survived fairly easily. Less than ten dead. A few babies died in battles, and a few bad fey moods. Out of combat, only 4 deaths, all by drowning. Goblin general, tigerman general, and the beak wolf general are all mine. I have never breached the circus before. I am a few levels away from it as of now (I think) and my military can be mobilized. I have no other defenses because my fort is military based. Am I ready? Will I have any chance? Should I get another squad or two of dwarves before I attempt it? Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your army is stationed right next to the circus entrance before opening. Clowns usually cut your FPS in half(or even worse!). Once the FUN starts, sit back and chill.

Build a grid of floor grates above the entire city. Draft a squadron of masons and bomb the crap out of the city with falling constructed walls.

Have your army the largest it can possibly be sustainably (critical functions still need done) and have a hospital fully equipped and ready to take very many dwarves.  If you survive, you'll likely need it.

I used to have an avatar, but I was told to remove it after it kept making people go insane.

It actually might be better to seal the army in with a large food/booze reserve  before the breach and quarantine any survivors of the fighting there until you can be sure they don't have any syndromes.  If necessary, give up the army for dead and cleanse the area with obsidian to recover your candy.
