I wouldn't put honey in an unfinished steel pot either...   Stainless steel, yes, sure, but not standard steel (we'd be talking structural-grade steel or weapon steel, which is a bit harder).

I tend to use glass or fire clay for jugs for holding honey.

Skipped the whole apiary route on the current fort though - and a wax worker just got a fey mood.  :o

{Yea - he took over a craftdwarf workshop and immediately grabbed a piece of stone.  ::)  Would have preferred a magma forge...}

I had a beekeeper and a farmer go fey.  They made metal crafts or furniture.

Added another level to my checkerboard on Aussie's recommendation.  Also constructing a method to route water and magma to this higher z-level now that it's dug out.

Got a half dozen migrants.  The most useless one has been given the duty of breaking into HFS once I'm finished preparing my fort.

I'm being attacked by a cyclops.  Neat!  Let's see if my speardwarves escape without casualty again.

Wow, first blow slit his throat, he stumbled around gurgling and getting stabbed after that, then died without landing a single blow.

I should call my speardwarves the Lucky Ones.

Mayor mandated another nickel item.  Gave her another nickel statue in her bedroom.  Should keep her happy.  Might put a nickel statue in her barracks too, seeing as she's usually in there.

As an aside, my smithy has organized a dance party in the room containing my Oxidane (DHMO) Reactor powering my mills at the crafting level (Z=Surface-1).

Goblin ambush killed a dog who was a pet of one of my axeladies.

She entered a battle trance after that.  Much goblin blood has been spilled.  Many limbs have been scattered around the map.

After much irritation about happiness levels (I managed to get it sorted out through lots of lavish food and a legendary brewer), I'm breaking from my big game to start a new one.  Still keeping my old game saved (with a backup even) for when I decide to go back to it.

.... my dwarves spawned literally on the lip of a volcano.  Our wagon didn't even spawn, it immediately wnet to become wood and supplies scattered over the lip of the volcano.

Well that spawn was untenable.  Most of my animals and all of my seeds fell in to the magma because of a weird delayed cave-in.  Sad.  Time to gen a new world and find a different volcano then.

It is inadvisable to put the volcano in the center of your embark region.

Dear Urist McSettlers,

Your group, "The Abbey of Merchants", is hereby permitted to embark to the location (hereby entered into our records as the "Fortress Name") of "Axeslaughter the Light of Ancients".  Divinations have proven this location to have ample soil, plentiful metal deposits, flux stone deposits, a river, and no aquifer; thus, this location is considered suitable for fortress building.

You are NOT allowed to obtain the assistance of non-dwarves in your settlement under any circumstances.  Recent disputes with elves over trade of wooden satues, and the theft of the artifact "Lustwater the Danger of Ages" by kobolds, as well as a war with the half-human, half-goblin nation "Hellmouth Nether-War", has made us change our mind.  You are permitted to trade, but any attempts to settle must be met with extreme prejudice and axeblades.

You are allowed to bring three (3) Copper Picks from our armoury.
You are allowed to bring two (2) Copper Battle Axes from our armoury.
You are allowed to bring one (1) Iron Anvil from our armoury.
You are allowed to bring one (1) Iron Short Sword from our armoury.
-- Requests for further military equipment will result in flogging.
-- Requests for artifacts will result in flogging, and then beating.
You are allowed to bring twenty (20) Plump Helmet Spawn from our storehouse.
You are allowed to bring four (4) Cave Wheat Seeds from our storehouse.
You are allowed to bring four (4) Sweet Pod Seeds from our storehouse.
You are allowed to bring twenty (20) Plump Helmets from our storehouse.
You are allowed to bring twenty (20) units of Dwarven Ale from our storehouse.
You are allowed to bring twenty (20) units of Dwarven Beer from our storehouse.
You are allowed to bring twenty (20) units of Dwarven Rum from our storehouse.
You are allowed to bring twenty (20) units of Dwarven Wine from our storehouse.
-- Appropriate containers for drinks and foodstuffs will be dispensed at the storehouse.
-- Do NOT attempt to con our storekeeper out of barrels.
---- Attempts to do so will result in flogging, beating, and then stockading.
You are allowed to bring twenty (20) Tower-Cap logs from our stockpile.
You are allowed to bring one (1) male Dog from our animal pens.
You are allowed to bring one (1) female Dog from our animal pens.
You are allowed to bring two (2) female Kittens from our animal pens.
You are allowed to bring one (1) male Chicken (Rooster) from our animal pens.
You are allowed to bring one (1) female Chicken (Hen) from our animal pens.
-- Do NOT request a war animal or exotic animals.
---- Attempts to do so will result in being assignment to feed our troll.
---- Any and all equipment and clothing will be redistributed before assignment..
