Not too bad, but it wouldn't last a fully grown fort all that long.  Needs more stockpiles!

Whoops!  Testing out my bridge, I tossed one of my fisher dwarfs into a river.  Uh.  Sorry there fella.

Anyway, she's only got some bruising, she'll be fine.  More importantly, I discovered I need to re-orient my bridges...

Ahh rivers. I just had a siege where the crocodile riding goblin army drowned entirely swimming up the river to my fort.

You gotta admit, those gobbos had some balls riding on crocodiles to attack a dwarf fortress.

Warning to dwarves:  Please stay away from the moving bridges.

Also, DO make sure your drawbridges close the correct way.  It is very FUN if they do not.

That's why I was testing them, lol... they have to be re-arranged now, but better now than during a siege, right?

Better now then to have your dwarves get horribly murdered.

Yeah. One of my marksdwarves got 23 kills in the battle!
We immediately got attacked by a 107 goblin army that consisted of crock riders and trolls. They tore down my floodgate defenses and proceeded to..... Well. Overwhelm my 23 man military.

After I start my Serene area, I also want to start a Sinister area, to get a feel of the difference between evil/neutral/good (this area is Calm).

Then I'll try out the various savagery levels to see what challenge level I like the most.  I get the feeling this particular fort is gonna end anyway once I get into the third cavern or the magma level, but it's been a fun and educational run :)

Ive found that some of the very good karma areas invoke man eating pea hens. Be warned.

I've found they invoke dwarf-eating vultures.  Not corpse-eating, no, they leave the corpses alone.  No, they kept trying to eat my dwarves.  Until they were killed and butchered.
